Rypin combines architectural and cultural history with opportunities for leisure and exercise. St. Barbara's Chapel, the Jewish cemetery and the Muzeum Ziemi Dobrzyńskiej give your trip a historical focus, while the cinema and sports centre add other activities. You can tailor your stay to your own interests in architecture, history or leisure.

Cultural history in Rypin

St. Barbara's Chapel in Rypin was built before 1694. Its wooden log construction stands on a stone base. Other architectural features include a multi-sided shingle roof, a small tower with a tent roof, and restored wall paintings. The construction, roof shape and paintings each offer their own perspective for describing the chapel's historical and architectural significance.

The Jewish cemetery is also part of Rypin's history. It was probably established in the 18th or 19th century and destroyed during the Second World War. After the war, a lapidarium was created there from damaged gravestones. The site's history therefore encompasses an establishment date that can only be estimated, its destruction during the war and the subsequent collection of the gravestones.

Museum, remembrance and events

The Muzeum Ziemi Dobrzyńskiej is housed in the former headquarters of the police commissioner in Rypin. During the first months of the German occupation, members of the paramilitary Selbstschutz and Gestapo officers detained, tortured and murdered residents of the Dobrzyń region there. This history provides a somber focus alongside the city's architectural and cultural themes. Within the wider Rypin travel destination, the museum houses archaeological exhibits, books, photographs and everyday objects.

The “Bałtyk” cinema shows films and also hosts theatre performances, cabaret acts and concerts. Check current announcements for specific screenings and events. If you would like to plan another leisure activity, the Rypińskie Centrum Sportu has a four-lane bowling alley.

Outside, there is a tube water slide about 106 m long with a run-out pool; a hydromassage tub is located at the poolside.

The church and window represent different aspects of religious and artistic heritage.

Rypin is in Rypin County, on the Rypienica, a tributary of the Drwęca. Rypin's green corridors range from forests to parks and gardens to green spaces along the Rypienica, offering opportunities for active recreation. Park nad rzeką Rypienicą is in the southwest of Rypin; its location in the river valley gives the terrain varied contours. The Lipa Rudolfa Radatza, a protected natural monument, is also located in the complex of buildings belonging to the Evangelical-Augsburg church on ul. Tadeusza Kościuszki.

You can also take the regional setting into account when planning your trip: Rypin lies on a route from Kuyavia to Warmia and on one from Pomerania to Masovia. The walking and cycling route on the Rypin–Wąpielsk connection was officially opened on 27 September 2025. Together with the area's varied cultural, sporting and landscape themes, this offers an overview of different interests to consider when planning your stay.
