Discover Tleń: Trails, Water and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Tleń
Tleń is a tourist resort with numerous hiking, cycling and water routes. For planning your visit, there are several destinations to consider: walks along the Prusina or Wda rivers, named hiking trails, a cycling loop, and local cultural and natural landmarks. Hiking options range from a loop along a river to a circuit around a lake and routes between places. In addition to outdoor activities, public art, the historic layout of the settlement and a natural monument are distinct points of interest.
Hiking between river, forest and lake
You can walk along the Prusina or Wda rivers. The short and easy Do Piekła hiking and Nordic walking loop starts in Tleń, is 3.3 kilometres long and follows the Wda. At 5.2 kilometres, Na perłowym szlaku is another loop starting in Tleń: it goes around Lake Mukrz and offers numerous viewpoints. If you prefer a loop along the river, you can follow Do Piekła; if you would like to circle Lake Mukrz and take in the viewpoints, Na perłowym szlaku offers this combination. Both are circular routes; their stated lengths also set them apart: 3.3 kilometres for Do Piekła and 5.2 kilometres for Na perłowym szlaku.
At a trail junction on the road from Tleń to the water station, the Piętaszków hiking trail follows a forest track towards Lake Mukrz and then runs along the lakeshore. The Ścieżynka Zagłoby hiking trail leads from Tleń via Lake Piaseczno, Stara Rzeka and Radańska to Osie. So, alongside the loops described above, there are also routes passing between several named places.
Cycling, running routes and kayaking
The Tropami II Rzeczypospolitej cycling loop connects Osie, Tleń, Wierzchy, Łążek and Starą Rzekę. For a running route project located entirely in the forest, Leśny Trail (3 km) and Klaudi Adventure (5 km) are planned; one starting point is in Tleń. This means that, alongside hiking trails, cycling and running are also distinct options to consider when planning a trip.
Between the Żur Reservoir and Lake Mukrz, kayakers carry their kayaks overland at one point. This portage is therefore a distinct part of the connection between the bodies of water and sets it apart from a route completed entirely on the water.
Cultural and natural landmarks in the town
A square in Tleń features four-metre-high wooden sculptures depicting a mushroom picker, a forestry worker, an angler and a chub. There is also a memorial stone and a plaque dedicated to Professor Alfons Hoffmann. Together, the figures bring several themes together, directly representing forestry, fishing and nature.
The railway station complex, considered heritage of high value, is part of the historic layout of the settlement. The historic buildings are therefore another distinct cultural point of interest in Tleń.
Beside the railway bridge in Tleń lies a glacial erratic partly covered in lichen, designated a natural monument. It has a circumference of 12.3 metres; it is 4.8 metres long, 4.9 metres wide and 1.4 metres high. These measurements give a clear sense of the rock's size and make it a distinct natural point of interest alongside the hiking and local history themes.
