Kruszyn is a locality in the Gmina Włocławek, in Włocławek County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The locality’s points of interest include aviation at Kruszyn Airfield and a history reflected in its religious sites, parish church, and memorial. These offer several themes to guide your visit: aviation, local culture, and places of remembrance.

Aviation at Kruszyn Airfield

Kruszyn Airfield is assigned to airspace class G; VFR traffic is permitted. Its ICAO code is EPWK. Check current operational aviation information again before using the airfield.

The aeroclub offers training for the PPL(A) and LAPL(A) aircraft licences, as well as the SPL glider licence. The Włocławek Aero Club also offers balloon pilot training, skydiving activities, and recreational and sporting events. Check training availability and licence details again before booking.

You can purchase a voucher for an introductory flight at the airfield. Check availability and booking procedures before your trip. This lets you choose between training with a specific licence goal, a voucher for an introductory flight, and other aviation activities.

Church, cemetery, and memorials

The Roman Catholic cemetery in Kruszyn has historic gravestones and old trees dating from the third quarter of the 19th century. Roadside religious figures include a statue of Christ and a figure of the Virgin Mary from 1919. The cemetery and figures offer different points of interest if you are interested in the locality’s religious history.

The parish church of Our Lady Queen of Poland was built between 1955 and 1957, modelled on a brick church dating from around 1654 that was destroyed. The present-day church thus refers both to an older building and to the period in which it was built.

A memorial site includes a mass grave for Polish soldiers killed in September 1939, as well as the remains of civilians murdered by the Nazis. This place adds remembrance of the victims of war to the area’s architectural and religious history.

Kruszyn’s cultural life includes an Ośrodek Kultury, the folk ensemble Kruszynioki, and the OSP Kruszyn brass band. Together with the historic sites, these offer another way to experience the locality: alongside buildings and memorials, local cultural life is also in focus.

Natural areas of the Gmina Włocławek

The natural attractions at the municipality level also provide a regional context for planning your trip. Within the Gmina Włocławek, 12,049 hectares of the Gostynińsko-Włocławski Landscape Park are located, where pine and mixed forests predominate. The Gościąż water reserve protects a lake system with sediment layers that preserve around 12,000 years of landscape history.

Three marked trails, 71, 35.4, and 18 kilometres long, are designated for hiking in the Gmina. There is also the 15-kilometre Smólnik–Kosinowo–Ruda nature and forest education trail, with eight stops in the buffer zone of the landscape park. At 15 kilometres, this educational trail is shorter than each of the three marked trails; its eight stops offer an additional point of comparison.
