Discover Lipinki: Manor House, Oil History and Hiking Trail
Accommodation in Lipinki
Lipinki combines historic buildings and places of remembrance with oil history and a marked hiking route. When planning your stay, it helps to distinguish between the locations: the Byszewski manor house with its park and the oil wells are in Lipinki; other churches and war cemeteries are in places within the municipality. The stated walking time applies to the entire hiking route. This lets you balance cultural history, local points of interest and a hike without confusing their locations.
Hiking trail with stated total duration
The blue-marked Biecz–Lipinki–Rozdziele–Ferdel hiking trail leads to the northern built-up areas of Lipinki. The stated walking time for the entire route is five hours; this does not apply solely to the section near Lipinki. So if you include the trail in your day’s plans, allow for the full route. The municipal route description refers to a hiking guide from 2003; trail conditions may change. Check them before setting out, and understand the five-hour estimate as applying to the entire route.
Historic sites in Lipinki
The Byszewski manor house and its park have been preserved in Lipinki. For those interested in culture, this historic complex is a notable architectural site, while the many historic chapels offer a different connection to the history of the area. One of the chapels was built on the site of the main altar of the first Catholic church. This location links it to Lipinki’s church history. Lipinki also has oil wells known as kopanki, dating from the late 19th century. The manor house, chapels and wells thus represent different aspects of the area’s history.
Churches and places of remembrance in the municipality
The associated municipality has churches in Wójtowa and Rozdziele. The wooden Church of St. Bartholomew in Wójtowa was built in the 16th century and classified as a Class III monument. Rozdziele has a church dedicated to the Protection of the Mother of God (Pokrow). Also located there is a church built of hewn sandstone in 1927 and dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The details complement one another: the construction period and monument classification are given for Wójtowa, while the churches in Rozdziele are distinguished by their dedications and, in the case of the sandstone building, also by its material and year of construction.
Four war cemeteries in Rozdziele, Pagorzyn, Wójtowa and Bednarka are the final resting places of those who died in the Battle of Gorlice in early May 1915. These four locations spread this historical connection across several parts of the municipality; all the cemeteries commemorate the same battle. While the churches are described by their construction period, material or dedication, the cemeteries commemorate a shared historical event at different locations.
