Głogoczów combines historic buildings with a specific hiking trail starting point in the village. When planning your trip, you can choose between the local attractions and the separate cultural and hiking destinations in the wider Myślenice area as distinct points of interest.

Historic buildings in Głogoczów

The so-called Lamus Dworski is a former Renaissance fortified manor that was once surrounded by a moat. The building is privately owned. Its name and the traditional account of its architectural form point to a historic structure with a defensive character; the former moat is also part of its history.

In the Piesaki settlement, the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands by the river, on the road in the village district. It was built in the second half of the 19th century. The parish church in Głogoczów offers a different historical point of reference: its construction dates back to 1812, and it was consecrated in 1823. Construction and consecration therefore mark two different dates.

The local buildings can thus be viewed in light of their different historical periods: the former Renaissance fortified manor, the chapel from the second half of the 19th century, and the parish church with its early 19th-century construction and consecration history.

Event and hiking trail starting point

An event for theater, history, knights, and fencing enthusiasts was held at the Wiejski Dom Kultury in Głogoczów on the first weekend of October. In its 2023 edition, it was part of a series that had already been held on this weekend for several years. The event was organized by the Myślenicki Ośrodek Kultury i Sportu and Teatr Walki. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the dates for the relevant edition.

A hike presented as an excursion begins in Głogoczów, in the Czarny Las settlement, near a brick chapel beneath chestnut trees. The starting point can be identified by combining the settlement name with this distinctive building. Check the hiking information in advance before planning your excursion.

Myślenice: history and other routes

The historic urban layout itself is an important feature of the wider Myślenice destination. It is regarded as a valuable monument at regional and national level and displays a medieval town plan with surviving remnants of a settlement that existed before the town was founded. For travelers interested in urban history, this means that, alongside individual buildings, the development of the urban layout is also worth noting.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Myślenice includes a church built in the mid-15th century and an early Baroque chapel dating from 1642 to 1646. The sanctuary also houses a miraculous 16th-century image painted in Italy, which became the destination of numerous pilgrimages. Its architectural and artistic history is intertwined with a religious tradition.

The main feast at the sanctuary takes place on September 8. In addition, night-time Fatima devotions with vigils are held on the 13th of each month from May to October. If one of these dates is important for your trip, check the dates for your planned visit.
