If you are looking for hotels in Sieraków, the local historical landmarks can help you narrow down your choice of destination. They include a Neoclassical manor house with parkland and woodland, a stone statue of the Merciful Jesus, and a wayside shrine at a road junction. There is also a green-marked cycling loop that passes the manor house. Before your trip, you can consider whether you are more interested in architectural history, religious sculptures, or cycling.

The Manor House’s Building History

The current manor house stands on a site with a longer building history. An inventory drawn up in 1694 when Sieraków was sold already mentions a manor house; the current building was constructed on the site of a much older one. The Neoclassical house was built in 1847 and expanded up to the beginning of the 20th century. The date 1694 therefore refers to the earlier manor house on the site, not to the construction year of the current house. This makes it possible to distinguish the history of the site from the construction of the present building.

Its later use can also be placed clearly in time: from 1986 to 2001, the manor house housed a sanatorium and allergy hospital. Together with the year it was built and the period when it was expanded, this provides a chronology stretching from the earlier manor house, through the 19th-century house, to a use in the late 20th century.

Parkland and Stone Sculptures

An English-style landscape park with numerous old trees surrounds the manor house. It is also situated in a park and woodland area of several hectares, with old trees. A stone statue of the Merciful Jesus, dating from around 1847, stands in the park next to the house. The parkland and the sculpture thus add two different points of reference to the building’s history: the house’s surroundings and a religious monument in the park.

Another stone wayside shrine stands in Sieraków at the junction of the Dziekanowice–Wieliczka–Nowa Wieś roads, near the kindergarten. It depicts the Virgin Mary and other saints. Jakub and Katarzyna Dziewońscy commissioned the shrine in 1858. This landmark is located differently from the statue in the park: the shrine is identified by the road junction and kindergarten, while the statue is identified by its location next to the manor house. The two religious sculptures can therefore be distinguished by their respective locations and different dates.

Cycling Around Sieraków

The green cycling loop Pętla wokół Dobczyc is 18.5 kilometres long and passes the manor house in Sieraków. For planning purposes, its length and route are two separate details: the distance describes the loop, while the manor house is a point it passes. You can consider the route as a cycling option if you are interested in a route connected with the site’s architectural history. Check local route conditions before setting off.
