Dłużec in Poland is a small place with a remarkable church history and two documented travel routes. When choosing a hotel in the area, first decide whether you would like to visit the wooden parish church, go on a cycling tour, or see other stops along the regional routes. The available facts about the place do not name a specific hotel or give the distance from any accommodation to the destinations. A specific address is more useful for planning than a general place name.

The Church of St. Nicholas and St. Lawrence

The parish church in Dłużec dates from 1780. It stands on the site of an older church mentioned in 1325. Thus, the earlier date refers to its predecessor on this site, not to the construction of the present church. In the early 20th century, the nave was extended and connected to a tower that had first been built as a detached bell tower in 1825. This sequence helps distinguish the different parts of the building.

A side altar contains a triptych with a statue of the enthroned Virgin Mary from the last quarter of the 15th century. It is accompanied by late Gothic paintings and Gothic statues of saints. Older works of art can be preserved in a more recent church building; their age does not contradict the building’s construction date. If you are particularly interested in the church’s furnishings, check current options for visiting the interior. The parish celebrates its patronal feasts on St. Nicholas Day, December 6, and the Feast of St. Lawrence, August 10. The current program will determine what you can attend.

Routes through Dłużec

The blue Szlak Warowni Jurajskich (Trail of the Jurassic Strongholds) passes through Dłużec. The Szlak Architektury Drewnianej (Wooden Architecture Trail) also runs through the place as a driving route and includes the wooden Church of St. Lawrence and St. Nicholas. The two routes have different focuses: one is documented as a blue trail, while the other links wooden architecture via a driving route. This does not establish the length of any particular stage in Dłużec. So check the route and means of transport before combining several destinations into a day trip.

A branch of the Wolbrom Municipal Public Library is located in the Dłużec fire station. It is part of local life, but should not be confused with a tourist exhibition. If you would like to use the library, check its opening hours in advance.

Barbara Chapel toward Pilica

About one kilometer farther on, toward Pilica, a square Barbara Chapel from the 18th century stands on a small rock at the so-called Lizak, among farm buildings. Inside is a statue of the saint from the early 17th century. The chapel is not simply in the center of the village; the direction and distance are relevant for planning. As with the parish church, the construction date and the age of a work of art should be considered separately. Check access and the route before visiting.

For a stay, you can make the wooden church a key cultural stop and add regional routes according to your time and interests. When choosing a hotel, compare its actual location, facilities, price, and availability for your travel dates. This way, you can plan a trip around the documented destinations without making unsubstantiated claims about businesses or accommodation.
