Zembrzyce combines marked hiking trails with architectural and local history. For travelers looking for a hotel in Zembrzyce, a practical planning question arises: Should hiking be the main focus, or would you also like to visit several historical sites? From here, red-marked trails lead west and east; in the village are a Neo-Gothic church, a manor house, and a monument to those who fell in the First World War.

Hiking Trails to the West and East

To the west, a red-marked hiking trail runs through the Beskid Mały. It passes over Gołuszkowa Góra (715 m), Żurawnica (726 m), and the village of Krzeszów to the summit of Jaworzyna (Groń Jana Pawła II, 890 m), then continues to the PTTK mountain hut on Leskowiec (922 m). The western route is therefore defined by a specific sequence of elevations, a village, and the destination at the hut. These named points distinguish it from the other route described.

To the east, the red-marked hiking trail runs over the Chełm ridge (603 m) and Babica (727 m) to Myślenice. In contrast to the western route, this one names two elevations and Myślenice as its destination. You can use the places and peaks described here when choosing between the two hiking directions. For both routes, bear in mind that conditions may change, so check the trail before setting out.

Church, Manor House, and Historical Sites

In the center of Zembrzyce stands a monument to those who fell in the First World War, erected in 1925 and funded by local residents. The Church of St. John the Baptist was built between 1911 and 1913 and is a Neo-Gothic, three-aisled brick church. This highlights two distinct periods: the church was built before the First World War, while the monument commemorates those who fell and was erected afterward.

The manor house in Zembrzyce is a plastered brick building in the Classicist style and is listed in the monument register. Its Classicist style differs from the church’s Neo-Gothic design. Visitors interested in the village’s architectural history will therefore find two clearly identified architectural styles here.

Grodzisko lies northwest of the center. The fortifications were probably built between the 13th and 16th centuries on the site of an earlier settlement of the Lusatian culture. The dating of the fortifications should be understood as probable; at the same time, the site points to an older history of settlement. The local history thus encompasses both an earlier settlement and a later fortification phase.

Facilities and Visit Planning

The tourist information office is located at the Centrum Rekreacji i Wypoczynku in Zembrzyce. The running track by the Paleczka stream is also located there. It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from May to September, and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the other months. Since opening hours vary by season and may change, check the hours applicable to your visit in advance.

The local heritage room is also located in the Centrum Rekreacji i Wypoczynku. It displays objects from the everyday lives of former residents of the municipality; the oldest exhibits date from the 19th century. If you would like to plan a visit to the collection, inquire about visiting arrangements in advance. This way, you can include local history in your travel plans without assuming that the collection is as freely accessible as the exterior views of the buildings.
