Grzechynia brings nature, hiking and local culture together as different starting points for planning a trip. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Grzechynia, you can consider which theme you would like to focus on. Highlights include a blue hiking trail, the landscapes of the Beskids and cultural heritage in several parts of the village.

Location and Landscape

Grzechynia lies in the southwestern part of the Gmina Maków Podhalański, by the Grzechynka stream, a left-bank tributary of the Skawa. Gentle, wooded hills, clear streams and charming meadows shape the landscape of the Żywiecki and Makowski Beskids. The reference to the gmina identifies the village administratively; the names of the two Beskids describe its landscape setting.

Cultural Heritage in the Village Districts

Above the Mędralówka district, beside the Chapel of Our Lady of Częstochowa, stands a statue of Christ falling under the cross, dating from 1778. In the Tatarówka district stands a statue of Saint Joseph, dating from 1900. The two statues therefore differ in subject, date and location. Their dates are 122 years apart.

The bell tower on Działówka adds a third village district to the cultural picture. A wooden bell tower stands there. Inside is the bell “św. Kazimierz,” donated in memory of the clergyman Kazimierz Jancarz, the chaplain to “Solidarity” in Nowa Huta. A sculpture of the pensive Jesus also stands in a niche in the tower. Unlike the statues, the bell tower combines a built structure with a dedicated bell and another sculpture.

The Koło Gospodyń Wiejskich in Grzechynia has been active since March 2003 and is based in the community room of the Dom Kultury. Its members take part in powiat-level competitions, including those for harvest wreaths and regional dishes. They also organize gatherings, meetings with residents and social events featuring traditional food, artistic programs, and newly created songs and poems. Unlike the individual cultural landmarks, the Koło focuses on community-organized cultural activities.

The Blue Hiking Trail

The blue hiking trail runs from Maków Podhalański through Grzechynia Zagórze and Ostra Góra to the eastern slope of Magurka. It is about 7.5 kilometers long and takes approximately 2.3 hours. Length and duration answer different planning questions: the distance indicates the extent of the route, while the time estimate helps with rough day planning. These approximate figures refer to the entire route described, not just the section through Grzechynia Zagórze.
