Jamna: Panoramic Views, Trails and History
Accommodation in Jamna
These topics offer different points of interest. From the highest point, the view stretches across several distinct landscapes; hiking trails pass through named places and sections, and the cycling route is described as a sequence of stops. The church and memorial room give the village a religious and historical connection. You can use these specific interests to guide your search for a hotel in Jamna.
Panoramic views across several landscapes
From Jamna’s highest point, the view extends across the Rożnów-Ciężkowice Foothills and the Beskid Sądecki Mountains to the panorama of the Tatra Mountains. This vista connects three named landscapes and offers a distinct focus alongside the trails through Jamna. If you are planning your trip around scenic views, the distant panorama is a clear point of reference; the hiking and cycling routes, by contrast, offer different points of interest through their respective itineraries and destinations.
Distinguishing the hiking trails from the cycling route
The third section of the “Barbara” Partisan Battalion Trail runs through Jamna on the Sucha Góra–Jamna–Bartkowa route. The red hiking trail passes the mountain hut by the church in Jamna, crosses the plateau to Siekierczyna, and turns onto a forest path there. The yellow hiking trail leads west to the PKS bus stop in Jamna and continues from there towards Jezioro Rożnowskie. These descriptions provide different reference points and directions. Before setting out, check the local trail markings and the current condition of the trails.
The “Wielka Pętla Południowa” cycling route runs from Zakliczyn through Zdonia, Słona, Olszowa, Jamna, Paleśnica, Dzierżaniny, Borowa, Ruda Kameralna, Filipowice, Stróże and Wesołów, then returns to Zakliczyn. Jamna is one section in this named sequence; Zakliczyn is both the starting and return point of the loop. The cycling route’s described itinerary therefore differs from those of the hiking trails, whose details relate to individual sections, directions and waypoints.
For the blue hiking trail, it is important to distinguish between the plan and what was implemented: a loop from Jamna through Siekierczyna and Bukowiec, along the Paleśnianka Valley and back to Jamna was planned. Because permission to mark the trail on private property was not granted, only the first part of the plan was implemented. The full loop was therefore planned but not implemented in its entirety. This limitation is important when planning a route; the proposed loop should not be treated as a fully implemented trail.
Commemorating 1944 and religious heritage
In September 1944, the “Barbara” Partisan Battalion of the 16th Infantry Regiment of the Polish Home Army, under the command of Captain Eugeniusz Antoni Borowski “Leliwa,” fought German forces in Jamna. During the pacification operation in Jamna that same month, 57 people lost their lives. Patriotic memorial ceremonies are held on the last Sunday in September in memory of the victims who fell in 1944. If you would like to combine your trip with a memorial ceremony, check the dates and organizational details for the relevant year.
The church in Jamna is dedicated to Our Lady of Jamna – Mother of Infallible Hope. The Memorial Room for Father Jan Góra is located in the House of Saint Hyacinth. The exhibits include his authentic furniture, everyday objects, books, pictures and clothing, as well as other items. To visit, contact one of the Dominicans living in Jamna. Alongside the trails and scenic views, local remembrance and religious dedication are also distinct themes to explore during your stay.
