Discover Klecza Dolna
Accommodation in Klecza Dolna
Klecza Dolna offers three distinct themes to consider when planning your trip: Apilandia, historic chapels, and a cycling route that ends here. If you’re looking for a hotel for your stay, you can first decide whether you’d rather focus on the exhibition, local history, or cycling.
Apilandia: Bees and Beekeeping
The interactive exhibition at Apilandia in Klecza Dolna uses multimedia technologies, interactive installations, and vivid animations. It provides information about bees, beekeeping, honeybees, and how honey is made. The visitor experience also includes beekeeping workshops and an educational apiary. The activities differ in format: the exhibition uses multimedia to present its subject, while the educational apiary offers an educational approach to beekeeping. Before your visit, check whether the exhibition, workshops, and educational apiary are currently available.
Chapels and Historical Traces
Klecza Dolna has two chapels with different historical associations. A wayside chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk stands by the road and dates from 1872. The neo-Gothic Sławiński family chapel stands opposite St. Lawrence’s Church in Klecza Dolna. It was built on the site of a church that had burned down. The wayside chapel is notable for its dedication and date of construction; the family chapel combines a neo-Gothic style, a family association, and the site of a former church.
Another historical trace is the former shooting range, which was located near the Pallottine monastery. It was built for training purposes for the 56th Wadowice Infantry Regiment of the Austro-Hungarian Army. If you’re planning to visit, check access in advance.
Cycle to Klecza Dolna
The black cycling route to Klecza Dolna is 9.5 kilometres long. It starts at the car park on Kościuszko Square in Wadowice and runs along Karmelicka Street, Wolności Avenue, through Zawadka and Jaroszowice, along DK 52 and Zygmunt Stary Street, and through Zaskawie before reaching Klecza Dolna. Unlike the individual cultural sites, the route is described as a journey with a named starting point, course, and destination. As route conditions can change, check them before setting out.
Wadowice: Its Own Cultural and Cycling Attractions
Wadowice also has a range of cycling attractions. Its pump track has loops for beginners and advanced riders, suited to different skill levels; use is free. Wadowice Trails is a network of mountain bike singletracks in the wooded area of Jaroszowicka GĂłra, designed for beginners, families with children, and advanced mountain bikers. By comparison, the 9.5-kilometre cycling route to Klecza Dolna follows a named course from Wadowice to its destination. The pump track, singletracks, and cycling route therefore offer different cycling formats. Check the current operating rules before using the pump track.
Wadowice also has places to visit if you’re interested in culture. The Museum in the Family Home of Pope John Paul II presents a permanent exhibition and also welcomes visitors for individual tours. The Marcin Wadowita City Museum displays historical collections from the Wadowice area, as well as temporary exhibitions, many of which are connected with Karol Wojtyła. The two museums thus have different focuses: a permanent exhibition in the family home at one, and regional historical collections alongside changing presentations at the other.
