Koziniec brings together religious buildings and works of art, a former school building, a children’s folk music ensemble and specific features of the landscape. When choosing a destination for a hotel stay, these different themes can inform your decision: they range from the history of individual buildings to a stream and mountain peaks.

Landscape and geographical features

Koziniec is located near the eastern slopes of the Beskid Mały. From above Koziniec, you can see the peaks of Skalnica, Kapral, Kamień and Żar. These four names give the landscape a distinct outline. The Czerna flows through Koziniec and is a tributary of the Skawa. This brings together two different geographical features: the stream flowing through the village and the peaks visible from above. These natural features can offer a different perspective for choosing your destination than the village’s buildings and works of art.

The chapel and its architectural history

In Wiercimakowo, there is a brick Mass chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, dating from the mid-19th century. The chapel houses a statue of the Virgin Mary from the early 20th century. It depicts Mary in white robes with her arms outstretched. The dedication, construction and date describe the chapel; the statue’s clothing and pose give it a distinct, specific image. This makes it possible to distinguish the building’s history from its depiction, even though both relate to the same chapel.

Another building in Wiercimakowo is the former brick elementary school, built in 1935. Its former function distinguishes it from the Mass chapel. It also provides a different point of reference in time: the school building dates from the 20th century, while the chapel dates from the mid-19th century. Both buildings offer different points of reference for the village’s history—one as a religious building, the other as a former elementary school.

Religious sculptures and folk music

In Koziniec “Wiercimakowo” there is a stone statue of Our Lady of the Rosary from the early 20th century. In “Stańkowo” stands a stone sculpture of Christ falling under the cross. The two works differ in their figures and subjects: Mary in one, and Christ under the cross in the other. Together with the statue of the Virgin Mary in the chapel, they show the variety of religious depictions in Koziniec.

The cultural character of the village also includes the Ludowa Dziecięca Kapela “Kozinianie,” a children’s folk music ensemble based in Koziniec. Thus, alongside historic buildings and religious depictions, the village’s cultural profile includes a named folk music ensemble. These themes may appeal to different interests when choosing a destination: architectural history, religious art or music. The Czerna and the peaks visible from above add a geographical perspective on Koziniec to these cultural features.
