Targanice in the Beskid Mały
Accommodation in Targanice
Targanice lies in the northern part of the Beskid Mały, in the valley of the Targaniczanka River. Several cycling routes pass through the village; a yellow-marked hiking trail also runs here. When choosing, you can compare the routes by activity, length, and the points named for each one.
Location and the river
The river setting is also reflected in one cycling route: a section of the 16 km route follows the riverbed of the Targaniczanka. The courses of the other two cycling routes can be compared using their passes and destination points.
Cycling routes through Targanice
Cycling Route No. 3, 22.3 km long, runs from Andrychów via Przełęcz Beskid Targanicki (562 m), Porębski Groń (735 m), and Złota Górka (756 m) to Targanice and back to Andrychów. It thus links three named points, each with its elevation, in sequence. Of the three cycling routes, its length falls between the 16 km route and the 29.5 km Route No. 4. So if you sort the options by distance, No. 3 is in the middle; its named stops also distinguish it from the route via Porąbka.
Cycling Route No. 4, 29.5 km long, starts at the Rynek in Andrychów. It runs via Targanice and Przełęcz Beskid Targanicki (562 m), passes through Wielka Puszcza to Porąbka, and returns to Andrychów. It is 7.2 km longer than No. 3. Its destination route also differs: No. 4 goes to Porąbka, while No. 3 passes via Porębski Groń and Złota Górka to Targanice. Both routes include Targanice and the pass, so you can compare them based on their shared section as well as their different additional waypoints.
At 16 km, the cycling route via Targanice and Dolne is the shortest of the three. It runs from Andrychów via Targanice and Dolne; a section follows the riverbed of the Targaniczanka, after which the route returns to Andrychów via Brzezinka Dolna. The explicitly mentioned riverside section distinguishes this route from the two longer ones. You can therefore compare the routes by their waypoints and courses as well as by distance.
Hiking the yellow-marked trail
On foot, a yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Porębski Groń via Targanice toward Jawornica and Potróna. Porębski Groń also features in the description of Cycling Route No. 3: for the hiking trail, it is the starting point; for the cycling route, it is a stop on the way via Złota Górka to Targanice. Targanice is therefore a named place on both routes; from there, the hiking trail heads toward Jawornica and Potróna, while the cycling route returns to Andrychów. This comparison highlights the different directions and activities of the two routes.
Choosing the right route
To choose a trip, you can first decide between cycling and hiking. For the three cycling routes, the distances and named destinations can then help: they range from 16 to 22.3 to 29.5 km. For the hiking trail, the yellow markings and the direction via Targanice toward Jawornica and Potróna are the specific points of reference. Check the current conditions on the respective route before cycling or hiking.
