In Załęcze Wielkie, the “Nadwarciański Gród” ZHP Training and Recreation Centre is located in Załęczański Park Krajobrazowy Landscape Park. Several of the named routes start or end at the centre; other paths are part of the wider travel area. When planning, the route, start and finish points, and stated mode of travel are therefore as important as the distance. A circular route, a path that returns to its starting point, and a route with a different endpoint are different types of tour.

Routes from Nadwarciański Gród

The approximately 23-kilometre “Trasa Nr 1” is a circular walking or cycling route. From Nadwarciański Gród, it passes through Kępowizna, Bieniec, Przywóz, Ogroble and Madeły before returning to the starting point. The sequence of these five places traces the circular route. If you are looking for a route with the same start and finish point, you can compare it with “Trasa Nr 2”: this route also starts and ends at the centre, but it is a walking route and, at approximately 15 kilometres, is shorter. It passes through Kępowizna, Bieniec and Dzietrzniki to the “Objawienie” spring and back. The two routes share their first two intermediate stops; after that, their routes and lengths differ.

The 10.2-kilometre “Trasa A” of “Załęczański Łuk Warty” is a main route for walking or cycling. It runs from Nadwarciański Gród via Bukowce to the bridge in Bobrownie. Unlike “Trasa Nr 1”, it does not end back at the starting point. This difference in endpoint can be just as important as the distance when choosing a route.

Other routes in the travel area

The northern “Trasa B” and southern “Trasa C” of “Załęczański Łuk Warty” also run through the wider travel area. The 15-kilometre “Trasa B” is a walking or cycling route from the quarry near Bobrowniki, via Ogroble, Kurhany Książęce and Wąwóz Królowej Bony, to Nadwarciański Gród. “Trasa C”, also intended for walking or cycling, is 12.5 kilometres long: it runs from the “Węże” nature reserve via Mount “Wapiennik” to the centre. The direction and named endpoints help distinguish these two routes from each other and from the routes that start at the centre.

Educational trails and their themes

The “Ośrodek” educational trail runs through the grounds of the centre and its surroundings. The trail is three kilometres long; the walk takes about an hour and a half. Both the distance and an approximate walking time are given for this trail. The “Źródełko” educational and recreation trail is in the wider travel area and is about six kilometres long. Its designation as a forest educational and recreation trail gives it a different thematic focus from routes described by their intermediate stops and endpoints.

The geological educational trail “Wielki Łuk Warty” is also part of the wider travel area. Along the trail, visitors can learn about the natural features, geology and present-day terrain of Załęczański Park Krajobrazowy Landscape Park, and understand geological processes. While “Źródełko” is designated a forest educational and recreation trail, “Wielki Łuk Warty” focuses on landforms and geology. The trails therefore differ not only in length but also in their learning focus.

Comparing routes effectively

Two routes of around 15 kilometres show why distance alone says little about the route: “Trasa Nr 2” is a walking route that starts at Nadwarciański Gród and returns there. “Trasa B” runs north, is designed for walking or cycling, and leads from the quarry near Bobrowniki to the centre. The intermediate stops also differ. When making a choice, you can therefore consider the stated distance, mode of travel, and start and finish points together. “Trasa Nr 1” also has the added feature of being a circular route; “Trasa A” finishes at the bridge in Bobrownie.
