Brzeźno offers several distinct ways to enjoy nature and outdoor activities when planning a trip: a cycling route of about 100 km ends here, and a blue-marked hiking trail runs from Dorohusk to Chełm, with Brzeźno among its most important locations. There is also the “Motylowe Łąki” nature trail in the Brzeźno Nature Reserve and an educational and museum center. If you are choosing between cycling, hiking and nature education, these offerings give you different reasons to include the area in your trip.

Cycle to Brzeźno

The “Malowniczy Wschód” cycling route is about 100 km long. It passes through the municipalities of Leśniowice, Wojsławice, Żmudź and Dorohusk, and ends in Brzeźno, in the municipality of Dorohusk. This makes Brzeźno the endpoint of a route that passes through several municipalities. When planning your trip, you can consider this endpoint and the route’s wider regional course as distinct aspects of the cycling journey. Check local route conditions before including it in your plans.

Hiking Trail and Regional Landscape

The 52 km blue-marked “Bagien i Moczarów” hiking trail runs from Dorohusk to Chełm; Brzeźno is one of the most important places along the route. The same trail was formerly known as the “Szlak I Armii Wojska Polskiego.” This is therefore a historical name for the route, not a second hiking trail. The two routes have different roles in relation to Brzeźno: it is the endpoint of the cycling route, but lies along the trail between Dorohusk and Chełm. Their lengths also differ: the hiking trail is 52 km long, while the cycling route is about 100 km. They are different activities and routes, not interchangeable alternatives.

The regional landscape along the hiking trail includes the Chełm calcareous peat bogs, with the “Roskosz,” “Brzeźno” and “Bagna Serebryskie” nature reserves in the Chełmski Landscape Park. These areas are home to valuable flora and fauna. The “Brzeźno” Nature Reserve lies along the hiking trail; there, high water levels often make the trail more difficult. Take this into account when planning that section and check the local trail conditions before setting out.

Nature Education in Brzeźno

The “Motylowe Łąki” nature trail is located in the Brzeźno Nature Reserve. If you would like to include a specific nature trail in your trip, “Motylowe Łąki” is the one named here. Check the trail’s current access conditions before planning a visit.

The Ośrodek Edukacyjno-Muzealny w Brzeźnie is run by the Zespół Lubelskich Parków Krajobrazowych and combines nature education with the protection of the local environment. It caters to school and preschool groups, families, organized excursions and individuals. This makes it suitable for different kinds of visits: you can consider it for an individual visit or as part of a planned group trip. If you would like to arrange a visit to the center, check availability in advance.
