Osiecznica: Carp Festival, Oder Routes and Historic Buildings
Accommodation in Osiecznica
Written sources mention two of the oldest villages in the municipality of Krosno Odrzańskie; Osiecznica is one of them. Three themes in particular shape the area for trip planning: the Carp Festival, historic architecture, and the lake and routes through the landscape. Depending on whether you are looking for an event, architectural history or outdoor activities, Osiecznica offers different points of interest.
Carp Festival and fishing
The Carp Festival takes place in August in Osiecznica near Krosno and highlights the fishing character of the surrounding area. The KARP fishing enterprise organizes it regularly together with the residents of Osiecznica. The festival offers grilled, smoked and baked carp, as well as carp soup. KARP also organizes fishing competitions and sells fishing permits online. The enterprise welcomes anglers and lovers of beautiful landscapes. The festival and the competitions offer different points of interest: the Carp Festival brings people together around carp dishes, while the competitions focus on fishing.
Church and manor house
The branch church of St. Peter and Paul stands on a rise in the southern part of Osiecznica, on the right bank of the Oder. Inside the church, galleries run along three walls, and the room is fully lined with wood paneling. This gives the church interior a distinctive architectural feature.
The palace of the manor house in Osiecznica was built around 1850 in the Neoclassical style and has retained its original exterior appearance. Its facade is defined by a recessed portico with four columns and a loggia on the second floor. A landscaped park adjoins the palace to the north. The church and palace make different architectural statements: wood shapes the church interior, while the portico and loggia structure the palace facade.
Lake and routes through the landscape
Lake Moczydło lies northwest of Osiecznica. It is an 11.9-hectare tench-and-pike lake. The “Bagna Jeziora Moczydło” area in Osiecznica covers 6.36 hectares. Both are named landscape features of the area, but the figures refer to different things: Lake Moczydło is described by its area and as a tench-and-pike lake, while Bagna Jeziora Moczydło has its own area figure.
The black Czetowice–Bielów–Osiecznica–Lake Moczydło–Skórzyn hiking trail passes through Osiecznica and along the lake. The red Nordic walking loop runs from Krosno Odrzańskie through Marcinowice and Osiecznica and back to Krosno Odrzańskie. There is also an approximately 60-kilometer kayak route on the Oder through Osiecznica, between Nietkowice and Połęcko. The routes differ in activity and course: the black trail runs along the lake, the red route forms a loop, and the kayak route follows a stretch of the Oder. This lets you choose between hiking, Nordic walking and paddling when planning your trip.
