Modrzyca offers three specific points of interest for planning a trip: two cycling routes, ecological sites within the cadastral area and evidence of early settlement. The cycling routes can be compared by length; an approximate travel time is also given for the third route. The natural areas have their own names and designated areas. The history includes a scholarly identification with a settlement mentioned in 1295. This gives you a range of points of reference for your stay, whether your plans focus more on a bike ride, nature or local history.

Cycling Route No. 2: via Modrzyca to the forest reserve

Cycling Route No. 2 is listed as 23 km long. It runs from Nowa Sól via Modrzyca, Otyń and Bobrowniki to the “Bukowa Góra” forest reserve, then returns to Nowa Sól via Biała Góra. The route connects the section through Modrzyca with the named forest reserve and a return to Nowa Sól. Check the current signage locally before including the route in your plans.

Cycling Route No. 3: the 47 km route

Cycling Route No. 3 is listed as 47 km long and taking approximately four hours. It runs from Nowa Sól via Modrzyca, Otyń, Bobrowniki, Czarna and Zabór; the Napoleon Oak is also on the route. It then continues via Milsko, Bojadła, Pyrnik, Buczków, Lipiny and Stany back to Nowa Sól. The approximate four hours provide a rough guide for planning your time. Check the current signage before setting out and take the condition of the route into account when planning.

Comparing the routes

For choosing a route, Route No. 2 at 23 km can be compared with Route No. 3 at 47 km. The longer route is therefore more than twice as long. Route No. 3 also has an approximate duration of four hours. If you plan your tour by time rather than distance alone, you can use this as a rough guide and take your own pace into account.

Ecological sites by area

The ecological sites “Kieszeń Odry” and “Łęgi” are located within the Modrzyca cadastral area. Kieszeń Odry covers 9.68 hectares, and Łęgi 3.14 hectares. One hectare is equivalent to 10,000 square metres, so the areas cover approximately 96,800 and 31,400 square metres, respectively. Kieszeń Odry is more than three times the size of Łęgi. For nature enthusiasts, these two named sites offer a specific comparison of areas within the Modrzyca cadastral area.

An early mention, not a known year of foundation

The date when the village was established is unknown. Researchers identify Modrzyca with the settlement of Modricza, mentioned in 1295. The year refers to the mention of Modricza, not to a confirmed founding date for the village. This identification remains a scholarly attribution: it points to an early historical trace but does not establish when Modrzyca was founded. This allows you to consider the early mention and the unknown date as distinct aspects of the area’s history.
