Dlugie between lakes, forests and history
Accommodation in Dlugie
Dlugie lies on an isthmus between the lakes Dołgie and Lipie. High morainic hills covered with mixed and pine forests shape the landscape; Lake Lipie lies in a protected landscape area in the Drawa Heath. For orientation: Dlugie is on National Road 22, on the Gorzów–Dobiegniew–Gdańsk route.
Lake scenery and bathing area
Lake Lipie has steep shores and numerous bays. On the southern shore, there is a bathing area, a bathing pier and a 1.1-hectare sandy beach. If you plan to swim, check the current bathing conditions in advance. There is also a diving centre at the lake, which divers can visit during the summer season.
There are also various points of reference on the water. The “Lubuskie Mazury” waterway starts in Dlugie at Lake Lipie, passes through the isthmus to Lake Słowa and continues along a canal to Lake Osiek. The region’s waterways also offer a glimpse into its history: At the beginning of the 21st century, neglected canals in the Dobiegniew Lake District were made navigable again. This created a 75-kilometre waterway with information boards and maps.
Walking and cycling routes
For a hike, the blue “Zaczarowanych Panien z Burgwall” trail starts in Dlugie. It is 12.5 kilometres long and goes around lakes Lipie, Słowa and Kokno. In addition, a marked walking trail runs from Dlugie around the “Mszar Przygiełkowy - Długie im. Huberta Jurczyszyna” nature reserve. The descriptions of the two routes differ in both their course and stated length, so you can choose the one that suits you based on these specific features.
By bike, the 27.5-kilometre “Poznański szlak” runs from Strzelce Kraj. to Dlugie. Along the way, it passes the shores of smaller and larger bodies of water. Its described course is therefore different from that of the blue walking trail, which starts in Dlugie and goes around three lakes.
Manor house and traces of history
The manor park in Dlugie covers 11 hectares and preserves an avenue of lime and horse chestnut trees. The history of the manor also includes its barn: built in the neoclassical style in the 1820s, it retains the original design of its front façade. The park and barn thus illustrate different aspects of this historic place—the preserved tree-lined avenue and the neoclassical façade.
Northwest of Dlugie, on the isthmus between lakes Lipie and Słowa, there is a fortified hill. It is probably located on the site of an earlier fortification; in the Middle Ages, a castle belonging to the von Bornstedt family stood there. There is also a historical trace underwater: divers found a 16th-century axe 40 metres below the surface of Lake Lipie. The find was transferred to the museum in Gorzów Wielkopolski.
Diving demonstrations, rescue demonstrations and diving equipment presentations have also been organised in Dlugie. No dates or regular schedule are implied; if you are interested, check in advance whether any such demonstrations are taking place.
