City Walks and Cycling Routes

The 4.5-kilometre Prudnicki Szlak Miejski is a circular route that can be started at any point. It passes attractions, streets and historic sites in Prudnik. A longer historic circuit is the blue Szlak Historyczny Lasów Królewskiego Miasta Prudnik, which is 17.5 kilometres long. It starts in Park Miejski, passes Prudnik’s old oaks, Kapliczna Góra, Kobylica, Dębowiec and Rozdroże pod Trzebiną, then continues to the Sanktuarium Św. Józefa in Prudnik Lesie and returns to the park via Prudnik (Lipy). Check the condition of this route locally.

For cycling, the green Wokół Lasu Prudnickiego – Pętla I circular cycling route is described as 17 kilometres long. It runs from Prudnik via Łąka Prudnicka, Moszczanka, Wieszczyna and Dębowiec, and back to Prudnik. Compared with the 17.5-kilometre historic route, it is almost the same length but designated as a cycling route; the 4.5-kilometre city circuit has a different focus. Before cycling, check the current condition of the surface and route.

Within the Wider Prudnik Destination

The Prudnik municipality lies at the foot of the Góry Opawskie, a small mountain range in the Eastern Sudetes. It lies within the Opawskie Mountains Landscape Park and its buffer zone, directly on the border with the Czech Republic. The landscape associated with the municipality includes the mountain massifs of Góra Parkowa, Długota and Kobylica, as well as Biskupia Kopa, which also forms a striking backdrop to Prudnik.

The municipality’s tourist trail network includes 35 kilometres of multifunctional trails with signposted routes, as well as numerous rest areas with tourist maps. The M. Orłowicz Trail is considered the main trail of the Opawskie Mountains and the Polish Sudetes; it starts at Prudnik railway station. There are several different cycling routes to choose from: Pętla II is 13.5 kilometres long and returns to Prudnik via the Sanktuarium św. Józefa, Rozdroże pod Trzebiną and Dębowiec. The Prudnik–Jindrichov route is 10 kilometres long, seven of them within the municipality, and runs via Dębowiec and across the Polish-Czech border to Jindrichov. The 15-kilometre Prudnik–Moszna cycle route starts at the Stanisław-Szozda roundabout in Prudnik. A separate, yellow-marked horse-riding trail runs for 11 kilometres between Moszczanka and the Sanktuarium św. Józefa.

City History and Buildings

Wieża Woka, also known as Wieża Zamkowa, is considered Prudnik’s oldest monument and the only surviving remnant of a castle fortress dating from the 13th century. Wok z Rożemberka, a Czech nobleman and knight and the founder of Prudnik, had the fortress built. A municipal notice dated 8 September 2026 reports that Woka Tower is closed indefinitely until the necessary structural repairs are complete. Its status may change; check the latest visitor information before your visit.

The three-aisled Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Prudnik has an interior gallery connected to the choir and tower. Its furnishings include a Baroque altar with two cherubim and a figure of Christ in the upper section. These two details illustrate different aspects of the building: the gallery’s connection to the choir and tower, and the design of the altar.

The Sanktuarium św. Józefa also has historical significance: Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński was interned there in 1954 and 1955. The Muzeum Ziemi Prudnickiej – Arsenał is also part of the wider Prudnik destination. As of 8 September 2026, visiting hours are Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 and on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00 to 16:00. Hours may change; check them before your visit.

The route lengths and their different focuses make it possible to plan concretely: choose a short circuit through Prudnik, a longer historic route or a cycling route with its own course. Discover more destinations: Jasiona.
