Schlochau: Lakes, Nature and Historic Sites
Accommodation in Schlochau
During a stay in Schlochau, it is worth exploring the lakes and historic sites in the municipality of Człuchów. The bodies of water offer a range of options: shores with recreational facilities, protected natural areas and a meandering river suitable for canoe trips. There are also churches with a specific architectural history. You can tailor your time between nature and culture to suit your interests.
Lakes and protected natural areas
Jezioro Gostudno covers an area of 46.38 hectares and is fed by the Czerwonka. On the eastern shore, there is a car park, a beach, a pier and a recreation area. If these facilities are important to your plans, it is advisable to check their condition before your visit.
Jezioro Bardze is located in the “Czerwona Woda nad Babilonem” Special Protection Area. At Jezioro Sporacz, the lake, surrounding moorland and forest together form a nature reserve shaped by water and plant life. Another natural area is the “Sosny” forest nature reserve in Sieroczyn: it covers 1.55 hectares and protects valuable plant, fungal and animal species.
Jezioro Krępsko also has distinctive landscape features: the lake has three islands, the largest of which covers 4.13 hectares. There are many places to relax around the lake, and it is also suitable for fishing. Alongside the facilities on the shores of Gostudno, this gives you other ways to make the most of your time by the water.
Water activities and exercise
Sailing takes place on Jezioro Rychnowskie. The VI KING sports club’s marina is nearby. The “Rychnowy” recreation area, covering just under two hectares, is also on the lake. By contrast, fishing takes precedence alongside the recreation spots at Jezioro Krępsko: the two lakes thus offer different ways to spend time by the water.
The Kamionka is an option for a canoe trip. The river begins near Wierzchowo, on the border of the municipality of Człuchów, and meanders through fields, meadows, ravines and forests. The landscape along the Kamionka alternates between open country and wooded stretches. The municipality of Człuchów also offers opportunities for cycling and trekking. The range of activities therefore extends from sailing and fishing to activities on the water and on land.
Churches and historic sites
In Stołczno, a landscape park dating from the mid-19th century lies beside the palace. It is listed in the register of monuments maintained by Poland’s National Heritage Board. The Church of the Holy Trinity in Polnica was built in 1780–1781. The filial Church of St James the Apostle in Krępsk dates from 1737 and has a Baroque interior featuring a pulpit from the castle chapel in Człuchów. In addition to its construction date, Krępsk therefore offers a specific link to the furnishings of the castle chapel.
For organised events, the Canpol Wonderland family amusement park in Człuchów offers options for children’s birthday parties, team outings and bachelor parties. The address given is Sieroczyn 4A, 77-300 Człuchów; the operator indicates that the park can be accessed via national roads E22 and E25. This offers a different focus from the natural areas and historic sites: here, group activities and celebrations take centre stage.
