Żukczyn offers several possible focuses for a stay: at the Mini Zoo, you can ask the animal keepers questions; archaeological traces span from the Iron Age to the period of Roman influence; and historical links to mills offer insight into their former uses. The Kłodawa adds a geographical perspective to these themes. To plan your trip, you can first decide whether encounters with animals, local history or the landscape setting will be the main reason for your visit.

Getting there by bus

Visiting the Mini Zoo

At the Mini Zoo, you can ask the animal keepers questions and get information about the animals. The information provided also covers their habits, needs and diet. The experience combines asking questions directly with learning about how the animals live; you can focus your visit on the topics you would like to learn more about. In 2026, the Mini Zoo was open from Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; no reservation was required. Check visiting hours before your visit.

Archaeological traces

There are four archaeological sites in the area of Żukczyn: settlements and a burial ground from the Iron Age, as well as 17 objects from the period of Roman influence. The settlements and burial ground represent different kinds of traces: evidence of former residential sites on the one hand, and burial places on the other. The 17 objects extend the time frame beyond the Iron Age. The archaeological settlement of Żukczyn, site 14, is listed in the Polish register of monuments and in the monument inventory.

Milling history and accommodation

Dom Młynarza is a historic guesthouse in Żukczyn, housed in historic mill buildings dating from 1925. Another historic mill connection can be found in Wielki Żukczyn: in 1583, there was a watermill there for grinding grain. The dates refer to different things—1925 to the guesthouse buildings, and 1583 to the historic grain mill.

The Kłodawa and the landscape

The Kłodawa flows through Żukczyn, connecting the plateau with the Żuławy lowlands. This places the village between two landscape areas and adds a geographical perspective to the archaeological and historical ones. If the landscape setting is also a factor in choosing a destination, this is a consideration in its own right, alongside any specific visitor attraction.
