Reskowo: History and Routes in the Region
Accommodation in Reskowo
Reskowo brings together a documented history of the village and the route of Cycling Route 6. For trip planning, it is useful to distinguish between the different geographical areas: the cycling route passes through Reskowo, the Chmielno–Reskowo Nordic walking route is in the immediate vicinity, and the Łeba kayaking route is part of the wider regional context. This allows you to consider the village’s history, the cycling route and regional tours as different aspects of a stay.
Historical References in Reskowo
A surviving document records that the Pomeranian dukes granted Reskowo, together with its lake, to the church in Chmielno as an endowment. In the second half of the 16th century, Reskowo belonged to the Norbertine convent in Żukowo. Reskowo is also listed as archaeological site C-173, a flat burial ground dating from the Early Iron Age.
These bring together different historical points of reference: an Early Iron Age burial ground, the endowment to the church in Chmielno and the later ownership by the convent in Żukowo. If you are interested in the village’s history, these details offer insight into different kinds of historical connections without reducing them to a single story.
Cycling Route 6
Cycling Route 6 follows a loop through Chmielno, Kożyczkowo, Cieszenie, Reskowo, Chmielno, Lampa, Zgorzałe and Stężyca. Within the Kashubian Landscape Park, the route is 29.5 kilometres long. Reskowo is therefore part of a designated route that connects several places on the loop.
The 29.5-kilometre distance gives you a concrete measure for planning your ride. Before setting off, it is advisable to check the current signage. This will help you plan your loop based on its route and stated distance.
Routes and Views in the Surrounding Area
Nearby, the Chmielno–Reskowo Nordic walking route passes through fields and forests, then along the lakeshore, offering views of Jezioro Raduńskie Dolne. While Cycling Route 6 focuses on the loop and its length, the sequence of landscapes and views of the lake help orient you on this route.
In the wider region, viewpoints at the Upper and Lower Raduńskie Lakes are also among the attractions along Cycling Route 6. They add further destinations in the region to the village and route connections mentioned above.
Kayaking Route on the Łeba
The Łeba kayaking route is also part of the wider region. It is 120 kilometres long in total, 27.2 kilometres of which are within the Kashubian Landscape Park. The route is considered quite difficult and strenuous, and its upper section has the character of a mountain stream. When water levels are higher, the Łeba is navigable from Jezioro Długie. At medium water levels, the furthest upstream starting point is at Jezioro Sianowskie. If you are considering this trip, take water levels into account when choosing where to start.
