When weighing up a destination for a stay, different points of reference can help: landscape, local cultural heritage and specific activities. Bukowina’s landmarks include a half-timbered church in the village, forests and a lake in the surrounding area, and a cycling loop that passes through Bukowina. The Bukowina kayak route also runs nearby. These features cover different areas: you can distinguish between a landmark in the village, the surrounding landscape and a route, rather than treating them as a single attraction.

Landscape, Forests and Lake

The park provides the immediate landscape context: Bukowina lies within the Kashubian Landscape Park. The extensive Mirachowskie Forests stretch east and north of the village. Lake Święte lies about 1.5 km east of Bukowina and is one of the lakes in a picturesque setting. This places extensive forests in two directions alongside a single named lake as another point of reference. The distinction matters for geographical context: the park encompasses Bukowina, while the forests and lake are in the surrounding area.

Church and Lapidarium

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a half-timbered building, founded in 1728 by Ernest von Weiher. Its construction style and founding history offer different points of reference: the style places the building in an architectural context, while its foundation links it to a specific name and year in the history of the village. The church grounds also contain a small lapidarium with several iron and concrete crosses. The crosses’ different materials provide a specific contrast to the half-timbered building; the church and lapidarium are on the same grounds.

Cycling Loop and Kayak Route

The 26 km cycling loop passes through Cewice, Łebunia, Bukowina, Siemirowice and Oskowo, then returns to Cewice. Bukowina is therefore one of the villages along the route, while the loop starts and ends in Cewice. Check the condition of the local route before setting out.

Near Bukowina, the Bukowina River runs along a difficult and demanding kayak route suitable for experienced kayakers. Single kayaks are recommended; the best starting point is the area below the weir in Skrzeszewo. Water conditions change seasonally, and access may vary. Therefore, check both the current water conditions and access before your trip. The two routes can be compared using different planning criteria: for the cycling loop, these include its circular format, total length and sequence of villages; for the kayak route, the key considerations are difficulty, experience, and seasonal changes in water and access conditions.

Location on Voivodeship Road 214

Bukowina lies on Voivodeship Road 214. This location adds a second point of reference to the park setting: the Kashubian Landscape Park places the village within a landscape area, while the road provides a specific transport connection. The landscape setting and the road location thus offer different perspectives on where the village is situated.
