Jantar: Amber Fishing, Cycling Routes and Beach
Accommodation in Jantar
Jantar offers several specific reasons to plan a stay around your own interests: world championships in amber fishing, summer fishing at a carp pond, cycling routes, Mini ZOO Farma Jantar and a sea bathing area. The local attractions differ considerably: they range from an event theme and seasonal leisure activities to a cycling route with a stated length. This lets you weigh up what kind of activity you want your stay to focus on.
Amber fishing and summer fishing
The World Championships in Amber Fishing have been held in Jantar since 1999. If you would like to plan your stay around this event, schedule your trip to coincide with a specific edition. In summer, a carp pond invites visitors to fish with a pole or by bottom fishing. There are therefore different points to consider when choosing your dates: summer fishing at the pond or the date of an event edition. Both offer their own reason to travel, depending on your interests.
Cycling routes: loop or route section
The Pętla Szkolna runs from Jantar via Izbiska and back to Jantar. The loop is the key feature when choosing this route: the described route starts and ends in Jantar, with Izbiska in between. This distinguishes it from another cycling route section for which the total length is stated.
The 14.82 km section, created by the Stegna municipality, starts in Mikoszewo and runs via Jantar, Jantar Leśniczówka, Junoszyno and Stegna to the boundary between the municipalities of Stegna and Sztutowo, near the Muzeum Stutthof, and then continues towards Sztutowo. Jantar lies along this section, but it is not the starting point. The stated length refers to the entire section. By comparison, the return loop of the Pętla Szkolna differs from a cycling route with a specified total length.
Animal species and activities at Mini ZOO Farma Jantar
Mini ZOO Farma Jantar covers a landscaped area of 9 hectares in Jantar, on the Vistula Spit. Around 30 animal species from different regions of the world live there. Examples include capybaras, ring-tailed lemurs, kangaroos, zebras and camels. The mix of different animal groups makes it an interesting option if you are interested in more than just one animal species.
The attractions include demonstrations during animal feeding as well as educational workshops. In addition to its animals, the mini zoo therefore offers activities focused on feeding and learning. If you are planning an animal-related outing, both the animals and these activities may factor into your choice of things to do.
Sea bathing area at beach access No. 79
At beach access No. 79 in Jantar, there is a sea bathing area measuring 200 m × 50 m. Swimming is seasonal. If the sea bathing area is an important reason for your trip, take the season into account when choosing your travel dates. This will help you factor this beach-focused activity into your travel plans.
