Ostrowo: Nature, Trails and Kashubian Heritage
Accommodation in Ostrowo
Ostrowo combines a distinctive setting with nature trails and Kashubian heritage. The Czarna Wda and Kępa Ostrowska help orient visitors to the local geography, while the Bielawa nature reserve shapes opportunities for nature observation and walking. There are also exhibitions, a historic building and a bathing area designated for 2026.
Landscape around Ostrowo
Ostrowo lies beyond the Czarna Wda, which flows parallel to the sea coast, on the rise known as “Kępa Ostrowska”. The river, the direction of the coast and the rise are distinct reference points for understanding the town’s location. A natural spring rises in the western part of Kępa Ostrowska, beside the meadow path from Ostrowo to Karwia.
In the Ostrowo forest, level with the cemetery, there is a wooden observation tower. From there, you can see the Bielawskie Błota and the Puck region. This specific viewpoint thus connects the forest landscape with two named natural and scenic areas.
Bielawa: Nature trail and wildlife observation
The Bielawa nature reserve is an important point of reference for walking routes and nature observation. A five-kilometre nature trail through the area starts at the Ostrowo forest ranger’s lodge. A path also leads from the centre of Ostrowo to the nature reserve. Bielawa is considered a habitat for cranes and a popular spot for birdwatchers.
In the area of the Bielawa nature trail, many plant, bird and animal species are particularly easy to observe from May to October. During bird migration, flocks of cranes numbering up to several dozen gather there; their presence may vary seasonally. For those planning nature observation as part of their trip, the area offers both a guide to the time of year and a specific landscape to explore.
Trails and routes
A longer route is the 28.1-kilometre blue Nadmorski, also known as the Rozewski Trail. It passes through Krokowa, Ostrowo, Jastrzębia Góra, Rozewie and Władysławowo. The section between Ostrowo and Jastrzębia Góra runs along the edge of the Czarna Wda valley. By comparison, the five-kilometre Bielawa nature trail passes through the nature reserve; the distances help distinguish between these different routes.
The municipal cycling network also extends beyond Ostrowo: it is 30 kilometres long in total and passes through seven localities, including Ostrowo. The cycling routes passing through Ostrowo are R10 connecting routes in the international EuroVelo 10/13 network. The municipal network describes the route through several localities, while the R10 designation places the cycling routes passing through Ostrowo in the context of the international network.
A kayak route starts in Kłanino and ends in Ostrowo. As tourist infrastructure may have changed, check the current situation before setting out on a specific trip.
Kashubian culture and history
The Zagroda Kaszubska at 35 Zabytkowa Street in Ostrowo is a branch of the Muzeum Ziemi Puckiej im. Floriana Ceynowy. Its “Pszczelarstwo Pomorskie” exhibition presents the history of beekeeping, the sequence of tasks involved in working at an apiary and beekeeping equipment. The history, work processes and tools offer different ways to explore the subject of beekeeping.
The Zagroda Kaszubska also hosts the open-air exhibition “Bielawa”, about the creation and significance of the nature reserve. Bielawa thus appears both as a landscape and as an exhibition subject. An 18th-century historic cottage also stands in Ostrowo, adding a distinct historic building to the cultural and natural themes.
Bathing area at the beach entrance
For 2026, a 100-metre bathing area is designated at beach entrance No. 35 in Ostrowo, on voivodeship road 215. If you are travelling in a later season, check the seasonal information in advance.
