Accommodation in Czechowice-Dziedzice
Czechowice-Dziedzice offers several starting points when planning a stay: city history, green spaces and cycling opportunities. If you are looking for a hotel, you might first consider whether you are more interested in historical themes or in parks and cycling routes. The places described differ considerably in character—from a locomotive workshop and a miners’ settlement to parks with specific area figures.
City history in different places
The Church of St. Catherine is considered the city’s oldest and most valuable monument. The locomotive workshop offers a different perspective: built in 1853–1854, it is closely associated with the establishment of the railway junction in Dziedzice and is considered a valuable technical monument. A religious monument and a railway heritage building thus represent different aspects of the city’s history.
The miners’ settlement on Górnicza Street also tells the story of the industrial past: it was built in 1903 for the miners of the “Silesia” hard coal mine. Its five rows are called “rajach.” This identifies both the settlement’s purpose and a specific feature of its layout. Together with the locomotive workshop, it offers a glimpse into two fields: mining and railways.
If you are interested in historical objects, the Regional Room is another point of interest. It collects and preserves objects relating to the history of the city and region, and makes them available to residents, students and visitors. In this way, a collection complements the buildings and settlement layouts as a way of exploring local history.
Lasek City Park also has a specific history: the owners of the “Schodnica” refinery laid it out in the second half of the 1890s, making use of the old woodland of Dolny Las “Goju,” which consisted mostly of oak trees. The park also features the “Ptasi Zegar” installation. The park’s origins and the named installation each give this green space its own historical and design context.
Parks and cycling opportunities
Szwajcarska Dolina Park covers 8 hectares and is the largest recreational and leisure complex in Czechowice-Dziedzice. An approximately 900-metre MTB trail for beginner and intermediate cyclists runs through the northern part of the park. Check local conditions before riding. For comparison, Park na Północy covers 3.6 hectares and lies in the northern part of the city, along Polna, Baczyńskiego and Morcinka streets. The area figures also distinguish the two parks by size.
When planning a cycling trip, it is worth distinguishing between the types of routes described. A 2026 description of cycling route No. 17 takes it through Czechowice-Dziedzice and mentions city streets with shared pedestrian and cycle paths as well as scenic side roads. By contrast, the MTB trail is in the northern part of Szwajcarska Dolina Park, and is specified in terms of its approximate length and the experience levels mentioned. You can therefore consider the city streets and side roads on the one hand, and the designated MTB trail on the other, as different cycling options.
