Jaworze: Park, Nature and History
Accommodation in Jaworze
In Jaworze, you can make nature, architectural history and cultural sites different focal points of your trip. Zdrojowy Park, the wooded Goruszka, the Museum of Marine and Inland Fauna and Flora, and trails starting in Jaworze-Nałęże offer different ways to experience the area. When planning, consider whether you want to focus mainly on the landscape, historic architecture, remembrance or a hike.
Park and Architecture
Following its redevelopment, Zdrojowy Park has five wooden walkways and observation points that offer new perspectives on the park. This makes the park a specific focal point for anyone wishing to include this part of Jaworze in their travel plans.
The central feature of Jaworze’s layout is a palace and park complex dating from the late 18th century. It includes a lower manor farm in the northeastern part and an upper manor farm situated farther north. Their arrangement is relatively symmetrical. This means you can explore the complex not only through a single building, but also through the spatial relationship between its two manor farms.
The Glorieta stands on Goruszka as a Baroque feature of the park complex. Its round roof is supported by six Neoclassical columns. The different architectural classifications offer a specific perspective if you want to pay attention to a building’s form and design.
Nature on Goruszka
Goruszka is a wooded hill, 411 meters high, in the Cieszyn Foothills. Black pines grow in its forest; they were introduced in the 19th century by Jaworze’s owners at the time, the Counts of Saint-Genois d’Anneaucourt. This is the only continuous stand of this pine species in the Silesian Beskids. The site thus brings together a precisely defined landscape feature and a distinctive history of local tree cultivation. If you would like to explore nature and local history together, Goruszka is a fitting focal point.
Museum and Places of Remembrance
The Museum of Marine and Inland Fauna and Flora in Jaworze displays, among other things, a sea turtle, sharks including a hammerhead shark, octopuses, mollusks and sea urchins. These examples cover different animal groups and give the museum visit a natural history focus. This offers a different theme from the landscape and plant life of Goruszka.
At the Evangelical cemetery in Jaworze, an information board guides visitors through eleven important memorial sites within the cemetery. The board gives remembrance a specific framework and distinguishes this site from the municipality’s nature and architecture themes. Jaworze-Nałęże is also home to a reconstructed glassworks on the site of a former glassworks dating from the 19th century. When considering its history, keep the two periods distinct: the reconstructed glassworks and the earlier facility on whose site it was built.
