Strumień offers a range of ways to explore the area: historic buildings, cultural attractions, cycling routes and a park with a saltwater fountain. When planning your trip, it is worth considering these different highlights. Architecture and history take centre stage at the historic buildings, while the cycling routes feature specific streets, starting points and places along the way.

Building history and architecture

Strumień Town Hall was built around 1628 and is the oldest surviving town hall building in the Silesian Voivodeship. Another historic landmark is the Baroque Roman Catholic church: it was built in 1790, and its tower was added in 1792. The dates therefore distinguish the construction of the church from the later addition of the tower; the date for the town hall is approximate.

On the eastern side of the market square, a row of two-storey townhouses forms a distinctive frontage. The houses have mansard roofs, with their gables aligned parallel to the street. Here, the focus is not on a single year of construction, but on the repeated design of a row of houses. The façades thus complement the prominent individual buildings with another architectural perspective on Strumień.

Local culture and history

The former Kaflarnia in Strumień is a registered historic monument. Its production history began during the interwar period with the manufacture of tiles. Later, clothes were made there, followed by grave candles until the late 1990s. This sequence of dates shows how the site served several different purposes and adds a glimpse of its former production to the area’s architectural history.

Galeria Pod Ratuszem is located in renovated basement rooms of the town hall in Strumień. Exhibitions, exhibition openings and gatherings are held there. The works on display are by local cultural practitioners as well as artists from abroad. Organised groups can arrange a gallery visit with the Referat Promocji i Rozwoju; check the current arrangements in advance.

At the tourist information point in Strumień, adults can borrow the “Tam, gdzie królowa polskich rzek...” audio guide, and children can borrow the “W krainie utopca” audio guide on site. For both, you must first read the terms of use. Check current availability before your visit. The practical difference between the two options is the intended audience for each.

Cycling: routes with different landmarks

In Strumień, the international R4 cycling route runs along Podwale Street and heads towards Pszczyna or Jastrzębie-Zdrój. The red 251 cycling route starts at the market square and runs via Chybie and Rudzica to Jaworze at the foot of the Silesian Beskids. The routes therefore also differ in their landmarks: for the R4, the route along the street and the directions are key, while for route 251, they are the starting point, places along the way and the destination. Check the current signage before setting off.

Park with a saltwater fountain

The park with the saltwater fountain offers a different highlight. There is a playground, and adults can sit on a bench by the fountain. These specific features complement the architecture and cultural attractions with a place of its own for spending time outdoors.
