Lubliniec: Cycling Routes, Ponds and History
Accommodation in Lubliniec
Three themes help you find your way around Lubliniec: the medieval-style centre, marked cycling routes and the ponds of Kokotek. There are also churches and memorial sites, seasonal leisure activities, and information about the local transport system. If you are looking for a hotel in Lubliniec, the focus of your tripâculture, cycling or time by the waterâcan help guide your plans.
Historic Centre and Memorial Sites
The historic centre developed from a medieval town founded under German law. Its square market square is named Plac Konrada MaĆki; much of the streetscape is lined with 19th-century houses. The square and streetscape thus illustrate different stages in the townâs history.
The wooden Church of St Anne on ul. Ćw. Anny is in the centre of Lubliniec. It was built in 1653 and reconstructed between 1996 and 2004; its interior is Baroque. The present-day form of the Church of St Nicholas also reflects several phases of construction and alteration: an originally Gothic building was followed by a Baroque one, which incorporated older walls.
The Muzeum Pro Memoria Edith Stein is housed in a tenement that once belonged to Edith Steinâs grandparents, Adelajda and Salomon Courant. The Jewish cemetery on ul. 11 Listopada commemorates the Jewish communityâs two-hundred-year presence in this Silesian town. In SteblĂłw, the parish church is dedicated to St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, Edith Stein; in December 2021, it was elevated to the status of a sanctuary.
Kokotek and Leisure by the Water
Kokotek is a district of Lubliniec with numerous ponds suitable for spending time by the water and for water sports. Activities vary by season: in summer, you can hike, cycle and ride horses there; in winter, you can go cross-country skiing. Different outdoor activities therefore take centre stage depending on the season.
Boats, pedal boats and kayaks are available to visitors at the Silesiana and Ustronie LeĆne leisure centres. The specific offer may change; check before your visit. The Wodny Plac Zabaw in Lubliniec is also seasonal, open seven days a week from 1 June to 31 August. Weather and operating conditions may affect the schedule, so it is advisable to check the latest information before visiting.
The pétanque court at the sports and leisure centre is free and open to the public. It can be used by individuals and organised groups alike. The renovated path next to a maze offers a different sensory experience: as you walk barefoot, the surfaces alternate between bark, pine cones and stones.
Cycling Routes, Forest and Navigation
The blue-marked Turystyczna No. 852 cycling route runs from Lipie through the centre of Lubliniec to Lubliniec-WymyĆlacz. Another option is the yellow-marked Turystyczna No. 439 cycling route. It starts at the market square and heads towards SteblĂłw, initially travelling north along al. SolidarnoĆci. The two routes therefore differ in their markings, starting points and directions. Check the latest route information before setting off.
Nordic Walking Route No. 4 runs through the forests south of Lubliniec and passes the Ćopian forest rangerâs lodge. There are rest areas along the route as well as information boards on preparation and Nordic walking exercises. This offers a different kind of activity from the cycling routes, with guidance specifically related to Nordic walking.
Lubliniec has a municipal transport system with timetable and information pages for lines 301, 302 and 303. Routes and timetables may change, so check the latest information before travelling.
