If you are considering Niegowa as a destination, two specific topics can help put it in context: the parish church on a hill at the western edge of the village and the cycling routes that connect the village with other named stops. At the church, a cautiously dated history meets a distinctive iron detail. For the cycling tours, start and end points and the sequence of places provide orientation. Thus, a building with local historical significance and round trips through several places stand side by side as different aspects of the area.

The Parish Church at the Western Edge of the Village

The Church of St. Nicholas stands on a hill at the western edge of the village, offering a view over the entire village and its surroundings. Its elevated location and the view are among the specific features of the church site.

The parish church probably already existed in the 12th century. However, its first written mention dates to 1306, the same year as the first written mention of the village of Niegowa. These are two different historical statements: one indicates a possible early existence, while the other gives the date of the first written reference. The tentative dating to the 12th century and the year 1306 should therefore not be read as equivalent dates.

One historic item is the church's iron door leading to the chancel. It dates from the 16th century and formerly served as the entrance to a tower of Mirów Castle. It is considered a valuable example of blacksmithing. The door thus brings together three specific aspects: its material, its former function at the castle tower and its artistic craftsmanship.

Cycling Routes with Different Starting Points

The green cycling route No. 561 starts in Niegowa, runs as a circular route via Mirów, Łutowiec and Moczydło, and returns to Niegowa. For this tour, Niegowa is therefore both the starting point and the return point; the three named places lie along the route in between. Check current route conditions before setting out.

A municipal circular route is listed as 13.8 km long. It runs from Bobolice via Mirów, Łutowiec, Moczydło, Niegowa and Ogorzelnik, returning to Bobolice. Both circular routes pass through Mirów, Łutowiec and Moczydło, but they differ in their start and finish points: for green cycling route No. 561, these are in Niegowa, while for the 13.8 km loop they are in Bobolice. On this second route, Niegowa lies in the stated sequence of places between Moczydło and Ogorzelnik. This comparison helps with planning: you can decide whether Niegowa should be the starting and finishing point or a stop along the route.

Wierna Cave in the Municipality of Niegowa

Wierna Cave is not in the village of Niegowa itself, but in Ostrężnik, a small hamlet of the village of Trzebniów within the Municipality of Niegowa. It is accessible only occasionally and exclusively to cavers. It is therefore in a different geographical context from the parish church in the village and cannot be planned as a generally accessible destination.
