Scenery and Cycling Routes

At the ponds of Stawy Wielikąt, there is a clear boundary: entering the ponds is prohibited. Birds can be observed from the bays along the Lubomia–Buków road. If you stop to do so, stay in this designated viewing area and do not enter the ponds.

Szwajcaria Czyżowicka, also known as Cza-Cza, is a woodland complex in the village of Czyżowice, with gentle hills and small ponds. The Wodzisław County Cycling Route is numbered 316, is 53 kilometres long and runs from Wodzisław Śląski to Olza. From Gorzyce, the route goes via Osiny to Czyżowice, where it reaches the particularly scenic stretch of Szwajcaria Czyżowicka. It is worth checking the local signage before setting off.

Pilgrimage and Architectural History

Together with the nearby sanctuary in Pszów, Kalwaria Pszowska is one of the popular pilgrimage sites in Silesia. Kalwaria comprises a church and fourteen Neo-Baroque chapels depicting the Stations of the Cross. Since 2002, the Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Pszów has officially been the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Smile. The church that houses the basilica was built in 1747.

The Rosary Chapel in Buków also has a specific date associated with it: it dates from 1770. The 18th-century wooden Rosary Chapel lies on the Silesian Wooden Architecture Trail. Looking beyond Wodzisław County to the wider region of Silesia, the Silesian Voivodeship Wooden Architecture Trail (Szlak Architektury Drewnianej) includes 97 historic buildings and architectural complexes; this total may change.

Mining and Leisure

In Wodzisław Śląski, the Górnicza Sztolnia Ćwiczebna recalls the city’s mining traditions. The underground workings extend for about 500 metres and contain mining machinery and other equipment. At the same time, the Sztolnia serves as an unusual local heritage centre. It invites visitors to experience the atmosphere of a real mine. In Pszów, Wieża Widokowa Jan stands on the site of the former Anna mine. The former headframe has a highest viewing platform more than 23 metres high.

The City Museum in Wodzisław Śląski Castle presents the history of the city and region from prehistory to the present day. Check the City Museum’s visitor information before your visit. Rodzinny Park Rozrywki „Trzy Wzgórza” offers something different: spread over 24 hectares, it has several dozen facilities. These include a treetop ropes course with ziplines and other rope obstacles, as well as cycling tracks for BMX racing, slopestyle, dirt jumping and pump track.

Dates in Turza Śląska

At the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima in Turza Śląska, nights of penance and reparation are held on the night of the 29th to the 30th of every month. Days for the sick are held there on the 13th of every month. Check the dates again before you travel.
