Over four decades, the Galeria Sztuki MOK in Dębica organized more than 600 exhibitions. Art is therefore a distinctive way to explore a city whose cultural offerings also include events and workshops. Parks, city history and the landscape to the south add further themes to consider when planning your trip.

Art, Culture and City History

The Miejski Ośrodek Kultury hosts events and offers educational programs and workshops in dance, visual arts, theater and traditional culture. The Miejski Ośrodek Kultury comprises Dom Kultury Mors, Dom Kultury and Kino „Śnieżka“, as well as Galeria Sztuki MOK. Its offerings range from visual arts to stage and cultural events. If you would like to explore Dębica’s culture, you will find a variety of themes here rather than just one main focus.

Galeria Sztuki MOK adds a long exhibition history to this overview: over more than four decades, it organized more than 600 exhibitions. The Regional Museum in Dębica offers a different focus. Its permanent exhibition covers the history of the Dębica garrison, particularly the Austro-Hungarian period and the Battle of Gorlice. This means visitors can explore both visual art and the city’s military history.

The partisan trail of the Home Army’s II Grouping in Dębica District also commemorates the battle sites of soldiers of the II Grouping of the Home Army’s 5th Mounted Rifle Regiment during Operation „Burza“. There is a red-marked route for pedestrians and a green-marked route for cyclists. If you plan to follow the trail, check its condition and the markings on site.

Parks and Landscape

Jordanowski Park offers children play equipment, a street-workout area, an outdoor gym and a bicycle traffic training course where they can learn about road safety. Skarbek-Borowskiego Park has seven themed areas, including an adventure area and an educational area. The two parks therefore offer different experiences: Jordanowski focuses on exercise and road safety in the facilities mentioned, while Skarbek-Borowskiego is organized around its themed areas.

These differences can help you choose a park visit based on the activities you are looking for. The facilities in municipal parks may change as a result of renovations. If a particular facility is important to your visit, check what is currently available in advance.

The landscape along Dębica’s southern boundaries includes partly wooded hill ranges cut through by stream valleys, ravines and gullies. This landscape differs from the parks with their themed areas: here, hills and landforms shape the scenery, while the parks are defined by their facilities and themed areas. Alongside culture and city history, Dębica thus offers views of varied countryside on the southern edge of the city.

Getting There and Getting Around

Dębica is an important railway junction. The Kraków–Lviv railway line has passed through the city since 1856. This long history of rail connections is an important part of getting around; for your own trip, check the current timetable before departure.

For road travel, Dębica lies on the A4 motorway, which forms part of the international E40 route. The motorway exits are called Dębica–Wschód and Dębica–Zachód. National Road 94 also passes through the city and serves as a toll-free alternative to the A4. If you are traveling by car, check current traffic conditions before setting off.
