Berezka combines architectural and park history with marked hiking trails and a circular cycling route. This makes it possible to decide what to focus on during your stay before looking for a hotel.

Churches and Architectural History

The parish Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Berezka was built in 1868. An earlier wooden church probably already stood on the same site in the 15th century. The church building is unusually large in proportion to its other structural elements. This places an early, though only probable, history of the site alongside a striking architectural proportion. If you include sacred architecture in your travel plans, you can focus on these two aspects: the possible use of the site since the 15th century and the unusual size of the building constructed in 1868.

The cemetery chapel in Berezka is a separate building and should not be confused with the parish Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord; today, it is used as the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It dates from 1870 and was expanded in the second half of the 20th century.

Historic Park and Natural Monuments

A historic park with earthworks is now used as a recreation park. It contains three oaks designated as natural monuments, with circumferences of 420 to 470 cm, as well as a pine designated as a natural monument, with a circumference of 370 cm. The natural monuments can be identified specifically by tree species and circumference; the earthworks point to the park’s historical character. In addition, remains of a manor park dating from 1851 and associated with the Fredro and Żurowski families have been preserved in Berezka. The town’s history thus features both landscape characteristics and a park with a specific date and family associations.

Cycling and Hiking Trails

Berezka can also be included in a cycling route passing through several towns. The circular route runs from Polańczyk via Wołkowyja, Górzanka, Bereżnica Wyżna, Wola Matiaszowa, Berezka and Myczków, then returns to Polańczyk. It starts at the intersection of the roads to Polańczyk and Polańczyk-Zdrój.

Four trail colors and approximate walking times are relevant for hikes starting in Berezka. The blue-marked trail to Wisina is estimated to take about two and a half hours; the green-marked trail to Kiczera, about three hours. The yellow-marked trail to Pasieki takes about one hour; it connects to the red hiking trail. The red-marked trail to Kamieniec is also listed as taking about three hours. The longest estimated times are therefore for Kiczera and Kamieniec, while Pasieki requires the least time and offers an additional route connection via the red trail. Walking times are estimates; check current trail conditions before setting out.
