Łobozew Dolny: Natural Monuments and Cultural Routes
Accommodation in Łobozew Dolny
Valley and Natural Monuments
Łobozew Dolny lies in the valley of the Łoboźnica stream, between the Żuków range, which reaches elevations of up to 742 m, and the Jawor massif, which reaches up to 741 m. The highest elevations given differ by just one metre. Together with the stream valley, these names define the geographical setting of the area. The elevation figures refer to the mountain ranges, not to the elevation of the settlement.
Two trees beside the primary school are registered as natural monuments: a pedunculate oak measuring 480 cm in circumference and 19 m in height, and a small-leaved lime measuring 360 cm in circumference and 21 m in height. Both are estimated to be about 400 years old. The measurements allow for a direct comparison: the oak has a circumference 120 cm greater, while the lime is two metres taller. Both age figures are estimates. This makes it possible to compare the species, protected status, and relative size of the two trees in specific terms.
Manor House and Cultural Routes
Remnants of the former manor park have been preserved around the manor house in Łobozew Dolny. These include old birches, maples, hornbeams, and Norway spruces. Large-leaved lindens and pedunculate oaks are also among the park remnants; they are classified as natural monuments. The points of reference differ from the trees beside the primary school: there, the focus is on two individual natural monuments with specific measurements, while at the manor house, it is on the remnants of a former park and several tree species.
The manor house grounds are on the “Szlak kultury dworskiej” (Manor House Cultural Route). Another route, “Szlakiem zabytków po Pogórzu Bieszczadów” (Following the Trail of Historic Monuments in the Bieszczady Foothills), passes through Łobozew Dolny, where old cottages are mentioned as an attraction. The route descriptions therefore have different points of reference: the Manor House Cultural Route places the grounds on a themed trail, while the sightseeing route refers to the settlement and the cottages mentioned there.
The Centrum Turystyki Aktywnej is located in a historic building that formerly housed the primary school. A report on its opening in March 2023 presented the Centrum as a sports and recreation complex designed to operate year-round. Excursions and groups wishing to spend time actively in nature were identified as its main target audience. If you plan to include the Centrum in your itinerary, check its current operating hours and access arrangements in advance.
