Jasionka: Airport and Manor Estate History
Accommodation in Jasionka
Choosing Jasionka as a travel destination depends on what brings you there: the international airport, the annual Dni Jasionki festival, and the history of the manor estate complex are distinct considerations when planning your trip. This lets you consider air travel, the event, and historical interest separately.
The airport as a point of reference
Rzeszów–Jasionka International Airport is located in Jasionka. It serves scheduled and charter passenger flights, as well as cargo traffic. The airport is a specific point of reference for trip planning; you can check individual connections against your travel dates.
Dni Jasionki throughout the year
Dni Jasionki is held annually by social organizations. Most residents of Jasionka, as well as visitors from neighboring villages, take part. The festival therefore offers a different reason to plan a trip than the airport: in this case, the event dates are what matter. If you are planning your trip around Dni Jasionki, check the dates and program for the relevant year in advance.
Manor estate and manor house: three points in time
The manor estate complex in Jasionka was already in existence in the 18th century; its origins may go back even further. The present-day manor house, however, was built later: it was constructed between 1816 and 1829 at the initiative of Zofia Oborska, the life partner of the estate’s then-owner, Ignacy Morski. In 1887, the then-owner Stanisław Jędrzejowicz had the manor house remodeled and extended to a design by Tadeusz Stryjeński.
These dates describe different phases of the estate: the manor estate’s early history, the construction of the present-day manor house, and its later remodeling. If you are interested in the building’s history, this distinction helps you avoid equating the complex’s origins with the year the manor house was built.
Landscape park and notable trees
The landscape park surrounding the manor estate dates from the late 18th century. Among its notable trees is a stately London plane tree with a trunk circumference of 500 cm. The park and this tree represent two distinct aspects of the place: the historic design of the grounds around the manor estate and a striking individual feature of its tree population.
The history of the refuge
Another historical connection dates back to 1892. That year, Stanisław Jędrzejowicz donated a plot of land to the Sisters of Siostry Służebniczki ze Starej Wsi and had a house built in Jasionka as a refuge for poor Catholic children. The refuge had a chapel for the benefactors, the manor estate, and the children that same year. The chapel was therefore intended not only for the children at the institution, but also for the benefactors and the manor estate.
This gives you several distinct considerations when deciding on your trip: the airport as a point of reference for air travel, Dni Jasionki as an annual event, and several clearly distinct chapters in the manor estate’s history. Choose a hotel in Jasionka based on what is bringing you to the area.
