Masłów offers several distinct starting points for planning a trip: aviation at the sports airfield, architectural and commemorative history in the village, and hiking destinations nearby. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Masłów, you can start by choosing according to which of these themes shapes your trip. The following details will help you understand the character of the village and its surroundings.

Airfield and aviation

Masłów Airfield has operated as a sports airfield since 1937. The airfield’s certified flight training centre, run by the Kielecki Aeroclub, offers training in powered aircraft, gliders and parachuting. As the training programme may change, contact the operator directly when making specific plans. The airfield is also considered suitable for hang-gliders, paragliders and parachutists; powered paragliding flights from the airfield offer views of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains from the air.

Within the municipality, Masłów Airfield has two 900-metre runways: a lighted asphalt-concrete runway and a grass runway. They are therefore the same length but differ in surface and lighting.

Church and places of remembrance

The church in Masłów was built between 1927 and 1937; its style draws on Romanesque and Gothic art. Near the church, an obelisk commemorates the anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s visit on 3 June 1991. A memorial stone bears the inscription “Pamiątka pobytu Jana Pawła II w Masłowie 3 czerwca 1991 r.”; in essence, it commemorates the Pope’s stay in Masłów on that date. Two distinct historical references thus stand side by side: the church’s construction period and the memory of the 1991 visit. The church and the airfield can also be placed in context chronologically: construction of the church ended in 1937, the same year the sports airfield began operating.
