Cinema, Swimming Pool and History in Włoszczowa
Kino Muza has two auditoriums with 231 and 50 seats, as well as digital 2K projection. It is part of the network of art-house cinemas. The different auditorium sizes and digital projection give the cinema a distinctive place in the cultural offering. As technical facilities can change following upgrades, it is worth checking the latest information before your visit.
At Kryta Pływalnia Nemo, the leisure pool features a waterfall and side-mounted hydro-massage jets; it is shallow. The facility also has a children’s paddling pool with small slides and a 79-metre tube slide. The slide is intended for adults and children aged eight and over. This lets you distinguish between the different water areas by their features.
The pool offers swimming lessons and training for children and adults. If you are planning to take part, confirm current availability directly with the pool. The information about the pools, slide and lessons answers different questions: it describes both the available water features and an organised activity whose availability you should check in advance.
Kopiec św. Jana is a hill about five metres high, shaped like a truncated cone, with a figure of Saint John of Nepomuk at its peak. It is considered the remains of a medieval fortified castle, probably built in the early 15th century. This probable date is a historical estimate, not a confirmed year. At the foot of the hill, archaeologists also discovered the remains of a 16th-century bridge. Together, the interpretation of the castle and the archaeological find point to traces from different periods.
More places in the wider Włoszczowa destination
In the wider Włoszczowa destination, the rectory of the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary houses a museum of sacred art. Visits are arranged in advance with the caretaker, Teresa Orlikowska. The historic rectory is a 19th-century building that has been renovated from cellar to attic. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary contains numerous commemorative plaques and epitaphs, including one in memory of Mikołaj Małachowski.
The market square is another historic landmark: it was laid out in 1539, when Hieronim Szafraniec received the founding charter from King Zygmunt I Stary, granting Włoszczowa town rights. A historic statue of Saint Florian stands in the square; it was erected in the 19th century after a series of town fires. These details give the square a distinct historical context, in addition to its role as a starting point for a cycling route.
Choose routes by starting point and course
There are routes with different features for getting active in the wider Włoszczowa destination. The green Nordic walking route No. 1 is about 6.4 kilometres long; it starts and ends at the car park behind the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Włoszczowa. Having the same start and end point makes it a circular route.
The “Lasami dookoła Włoszczowy” cycling route, named after Bogusław Chowaniec, passes through the interesting and scenic surroundings of Włoszczowa and runs mostly through woodland. A black-marked cycling route to Konieczno starts at the market square and connects with the “Lasami wokół Włoszczowy” cycling route. When choosing a route, you can distinguish between the woodland character described and a start in the market square.
The riding trail starts in Włoszczowa at the end of Wiejska Street, by a footbridge over the Czarna Struga, and ends at the forester’s lodge in Wola Świdzińska. Unlike the Nordic walking route, no circular course is specified here: the start and finish are in different places. These specific differences in starting point, destination and course can help you choose a route to suit your interests.
