Borowe is a Masurian linear village by Lake Dłużec and the Przebitka stream. The settlement stretches for about one kilometer; the stream is also known as Przyrzeczka. The elongated layout and the two bodies of water provide a clear spatial framework for describing the village. Lake Dłużec was historically called Lake Borowskie. The names refer to different bodies of water: Przebitka and Przyrzeczka denote the stream, while Lake Borowskie denotes the lake. This makes it possible to identify the Masurian village layout, the lake, and the stream as distinct points of reference.

Local history across several periods

Borowe was founded on July 7, 1548, as a rent-paying village by Lake Dłużec. The village has had a school since around 1760; in 1818, lessons there were taught mainly in Polish. The dates distinguish three aspects: an exact founding date, an approximate date for the school’s establishment, and a language of instruction specifically associated with 1818. In this order, they link the village’s origins, the history of its school, and a closer look at teaching in the early 19th century.

A former Evangelical cemetery dating from the mid-19th century is located on plot No. 170. It complements the earlier references to the village’s founding and school with a site from a later historical period. This dates to after the 1548 founding and the school history of the 18th century.

Farm and surroundings

The “Zielony Gaj” farm is located in Borowe, in the Masurian Landscape Park, and is designated an ecological farm. Its location and status describe different features: the landscape park situates the farm geographically, while the ecological designation describes the farm itself. Several lakes lie near the farm, and the Krutynia canoe route passes through them. The farm is in Borowe; several nearby lakes connect it to the canoe route.

Educational trail and getting there

The Borowski Las educational trail is near Borowe on Road No. 600; access is via a forest track with a designated parking area. The Borowski Las educational trail includes the “Zielona klasa” education hut and an educational space in its immediate vicinity. For orientation, access via the forest track and the location of the educational facilities are two distinct aspects. “Zielona klasa” refers to the hut; the educational space is nearby.

The surrounding area thus offers different themes: the educational trail is associated with learning sites, while the Krutynia canoe route is associated with several lakes. This distinction helps identify the learning sites and the connection to the waters as separate highlights.
