The Ina flows through the city of Gollnow and the municipality of Goleniów. A striking testimony to the city’s history is the Brama Wolińska, also known as Brama Chrobrego: the defensive gate was built in the Gothic style in the 14th century, stands 26 metres high and has six storeys. Its defensive function and clearly recognisable design make it an illustrative example of medieval defensive architecture.

City History by the River

Significant sections of the medieval city wall have survived. The most interesting and best-preserved section lies southwest of the Old Town, by the Ina. The Goleniowska Aleja Legend, a riverfront promenade renovated in 2013, is also located by the river. Granite sculptures depict local legends. Here, surviving city history and themes from local stories meet along the Ina.

Another historic building is the Spichlerz. Built in 1749, this detached granary is considered a distinctive structure. It has three storeys and a converted attic, and stands parallel to the Ina, about 12 metres from the bank. Twierdza Design tells a different chapter of the town’s history: this historic industrial site originated as a railway water tower, which was renovated between 2019 and 2020. Today, the site is used by social organisations. The granary and water tower thus represent different histories of construction and use.

The Centrum Informacji Turystycznej is located in the passageway of the Brama Wolińska. Its information topics include tourist infrastructure, agritourism and tourism, places of interest in the city and region, cycling routes, and cultural and sporting events. The range of topics therefore extends from finding points of interest to cycling routes and events.

Nature Reserves and Trails

The natural areas also have different focuses. The Wilcze Uroczysko Nature Reserve covers just under 63 hectares and extends across the municipalities of Goleniów and Stepnica. It protects a wetland and valuable riparian forests; the area also serves as a refuge for white-tailed eagles. Established in 1973, the Uroczysko Święta Nature Reserve covers 9.5 hectares in the Goleniów Forest District. As a botanical reserve, it protects part of a deciduous woodland. The wetland and riparian forest on the one hand, and the protected deciduous woodland on the other, highlight the variety of natural features.

The Miejski Szlak Turystyczny runs through the city, guiding visitors to architectural monuments and places of interest in Goleniów. Blue footprints mark the route. The green PTTK hiking trail Szlak Borów Goleniowskich offers another route option: it is 17.1 kilometres long, well marked, and especially recommended for hikers and cyclists. It runs between Krzewno, Łęsko, Pucko and Kliniska Wielkie.

Cycling routes also differ in length and course. The green cycling route covers 45 kilometres and passes through Goleniów, Żdzary, Łaniego, Krępsko, Miękowo, Żółwią Błoć, Niewiadowo, Glewice, Stacja PKP Mosty, Burowo and Mosty. A 13-kilometre sentimental cycling route runs through Borzysławiec, Lubczyna, Czarna Łąka, Pucice and Rurzyca. At 13 kilometres, the sentimental cycling route is shorter than the green cycling route, which is 45 kilometres long.

Water tourism is also one of the region’s attractions. The Przystań Jachtowa in Lubczyna has three harbour basins with space for around 35 inland yachts and 15 sea-going yachts. The approximate capacities distinguish between inland and sea-going yachts.
