In Svetlogorsk, discover art, exhibitions and outdoor trails, each offering a different focus. Several specific places are associated with the historic Lake Tikhoye: from the creative park on its shore to walking trails above the lake. The Tourist Information Center office is also part of this orientation around the lake.

Art and Exhibitions in Svetlogorsk

The tourist mosaic trail leads to notable works of art in Svetlogorsk. These include mosaics and other works of contemporary art, created using individual techniques. Another thematic approach is offered by the tourist walking tour “Exhibitions and Museums of the Resort,” which provides information about Svetlogorsk. The two routes differ in their stated focus—works of art in one case, exhibitions and museums in the other.

The “People of the Sea” ethnographic exhibition is housed in the Marine Exhibition Center of the World Ocean Museum in Svetlogorsk. It presents the lifestyles and beliefs of the peoples of Southeast Asia. Guided tours of the “Amber Salon” are also offered at the same center. If you plan to take this tour, check the current conditions before your visit.

Shore, Park and Trails by Lake Tikhoye

The “Muza” Creative Park is located on the shore of Lake Tikhoye. The Svetloyozhiki brass figures, part of a popular family quest trail, are also found around the lake. Three old linden trees on the eastern shore hold the honorary status of natural monuments of national significance in Russia.

Health-promoting walking trails, known as terrenkurs, have been laid out in the forest park above the lake. Route No. 4 runs mainly through the forest park area of “Muza” Park and partly along the developed lakeside promenade of Lake Tikhoye. This provides both a named type of trail in the forest park and a specifically described route that includes a section along the promenade. As trail conditions may change, check the current situation before your visit.

The Svetlogorsk Tourist Information Center office is 100 meters from historic Lake Tikhoye. This distance provides a specific reference point when considering the lakeside attractions.

Kaliningrad Oblast: Natural and Cultural Landscape

In the wider destination of Kaliningrad Oblast, the Curonian Spit offers a distinct landscape focus. This Russian-Lithuanian transboundary World Heritage Site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 in the “Cultural Landscape” category. The sandy peninsula is 98 kilometers long and between 350 meters and 3.8 kilometers wide. It forms a natural barrier between the salty Baltic Sea and the freshwater Curonian Lagoon.

The national park in the Russian part of the Curonian Spit has seven ecological educational trails and three tourist excursion routes. The “Fringilla” eco-trail runs through the grounds of the “Rybachy” Biological Station’s field station. From April to October, visits are only possible as part of a guided tour for groups of at least ten people.

The national park’s visitor center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May to September. From October to April, it is open five days a week, except Mondays and Tuesdays. Check the park’s opening hours before your trip. This will help you plan around seasonal visiting conditions in Kaliningrad Oblast.
