In the village of Yembayevo in Tyumensky District, the Great Mosque ensemble is designated as a cultural heritage site. A one-day walking tour takes visitors through the ensemble. Yembayevo is also home to the White (Small) Mosque; a regional natural monument lies nearby.

The walking tour through the ensemble

The walking tour takes visitors through the Great Mosque ensemble in Yembayevo and covers one kilometer. It is designed as a one-day excursion. The route length and time frame offer different points of reference for planning. The route is planned to operate year-round; confirm local arrangements before your trip.

The tour includes explanations of the individual sites in the ensemble and of its patron, Nigmatulla Haji Karamshakov Seydukov, a second-guild merchant. At the end of the route, there is an interactive area with traditional games. The explanations therefore focus both on the buildings and on the patron.

The tour is intended for students in grades 1 through 11, and its format takes their age-related ways of perceiving things into account. At the participants’ request, the tour can include tea and dishes from the national cuisine. Mention this optional addition when making arrangements in advance.

Two mosques, different construction details

The White (Small) Mosque was built in 1883 on the foundations of a wooden mosque; construction of the Great Mosque began in 1884. The dates refer to different construction details: in one case, construction on a wooden foundation; in the other, the start of construction. The Great Mosque ensemble is designated as a cultural heritage site.

A natural monument nearby

The regional natural monument “Yembayevo” is located 70 meters west of the village of Yembayevo. The village and the natural monument share the same name; its location west of the village helps distinguish the two places.
