Astronomy Along the Trail

At the Complejo AstronĂłmico de Almirante Brown, the trail begins at the amphitheater and passes the planets of the solar system. It then continues along numbered paths. Information boards and audio resources accompany independent exploration; the starting point, order of the planets, and path numbers give the visit a clear structure. Admission is free Tuesday through Sunday, from 09:00 to 17:00. Check the opening hours for the day of your visit.

Houses, Literature, and Local History

Castillo Castelforte in Adrogué began in 1874 as the private home of engineer José Canale and was known as Villa Castelforte. In 1983, the house underwent extensive restoration; it serves as a museum. Some surviving sections of the tunnels are accessible as part of guided visits. If you plan to take a tour, confirm dates in advance.

Casa Borges in Adrogué was the summer residence of the world-renowned writer Jorge Luis Borges and is dedicated to the study and promotion of his work. In this way, a biographical site is linked with the institutional engagement with literature. Research and outreach go hand in hand: his work is both studied and shared.

The Museo y Archivo Histórico Municipal in Adrogué focuses on everyday objects from the partido. Its collection includes doors, a clock, and decorative remnants from Templo San Gabriel, as well as photographs and tableware from Hotel La Delicia. The range extends from architectural and decorative pieces to images and household items.

La Cucaracha served as Almirante Brown’s first municipal government building, then as a police station and a justice of the peace court. This sequence—from municipal administration to policing and then judicial proceedings—brings the building’s changing public functions to life. The museum explores local history through objects and photographs, while La Cucaracha tells it through the building’s former public roles.

Art and Rural Perspectives

Iglesia Santa Ana in Glew contains frescoes painted by Raúl Soldi over 23 summers. Museo Cosimo Manigrasso in Glew exhibits more than 1,000 oil paintings and ceramic vessels. It is the only place in Latin America where visitors can find Tuscan ceramics—specifically, replicas of classical motifs from Greek and Roman mythology. The comparison ranges from murals in a church to paintings and vessels in a museum collection, offering two clearly distinct ways to experience art.

The way visitors explore also differs: the astronomy trail is designed for independent exploration, while some sections of the tunnels at Castelforte are accessible as part of guided visits.

In 2025, tourism initiatives in Ministro Rivadavia included rural trails developed together with the local sector. These rural trails offer a different focus from museum visits or the astronomy path. If you plan to take a particular trail, check the dates in advance.
