The Río de la Plata and the boundary with the city of Buenos Aires shape the geography of Vicente López Partido: Buenos Aires lies to the south, and the river to the east. Highlights for a trip include its riverfront landscapes, natural areas, and diverse history—from architecture to Argentine cinema.

Riverfront Landscapes and Natural Areas

Parque Natural La Lucila lies by the river between San Lorenzo and Roma streets. Access is via Paseo del Viento from Borges Street. For orientation on site, both the name of the access point and the bordering streets are provided.

Arroyo Raggio, on the southeastern edge of the Partido along the boundary with the city of Buenos Aires, offers a different view of the riverfront area. It is considered one of the last largely wild remnants of the Vicente López riverfront and is among the areas least altered by landfilling work. Visitors interested in how the coastal landscape has developed will find a contrast here with landscaped park areas.

In La Lucila, Parque Paraná was created as part of the redevelopment of 14,400 square meters of coastal land. Its features include new walking paths, a bicycle path, boardwalks, and native plants. The park also has children's playgrounds, restrooms, and parking spaces. Natural surroundings and developed infrastructure sit side by side here, making the park a destination in its own right among the Partido's riverfront areas.

Nodo Lavalle also brings together landscape and observation: the wetland is located at the former mouth of the Lavalle relief channel. Boardwalks and observation points allow visitors to watch birds, among other activities. Together with Arroyo Raggio and Parque Natural La Lucila, it shows how varied the natural attractions of Vicente López Partido are.

Environmental Tours for Educational Institutions

Reserva Ecológica de Vicente López offers free interpretive tours led by park rangers for educational institutions at all levels. The focus is on environmental education, native biodiversity, and appreciation of local ecosystems. The tours are intended for groups from educational institutions and require advance booking.

Tours take place Tuesday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.; the season runs from March to November. Depending on the tour, groups are limited to 30 or 45 people. Teachers or other responsible adults must accompany the group throughout the activity. When planning, it is therefore important to consider the suitable date, group size, and adult supervision.

Architectural, Regional, and Film History

Museo de la Fundación Rómulo Raggio is located on a site covering more than 3,000 square meters in the Partido. Its main building is a French Neoclassical palace dating from 1930 and has been declared a building of municipal significance. Visitors interested in architecture will find a tangible historical connection here, distinct from the trip's nature and riverfront attractions.

The history of the Partido is at the heart of Museo y Archivo Documental de Vicente López, which preserves, researches, and presents the area's history. Museo Lumiton offers a different cultural perspective. Its permanent exhibition covers the history of Lumiton; the museum also preserves and displays materials on the history of Argentine cinema, particularly the Estudios Cinematográficos Lumiton. Film series, gatherings, and forums are held in a screening room.

Quinta Trabucco also contributes to the area's architectural history. Built in 1900, it was donated by the family to the Municipality of Vicente López. Torre de la Independencia, commonly known as Torre Ader, is a 42.30-meter-high historic monument in the Partido. Its height affords sweeping panoramic views of the Río de la Plata and the surrounding municipalities.

Plan Your Walk and Journey

The municipal Del Río walking route runs from east to west through Vicente López and ends at Reserva Ecológica. Along the way, it includes the riverfront, dining options, a variety of family activities, and the front of the presidential residence in Olivos, among other places. As route information can change, check the current route before setting out.

For rail travel, the Ferrocarril Belgrano Norte, Mitre, and Tren de la Costa lines are relevant: they reach the Partido and operate there. When choosing a hotel for your stay, you could first consider whether natural areas, film and regional history, or the Del Río walking route will play the biggest part in your itinerary. This lets you set the focus of your trip without combining the different attractions into a single tour.
