Villa Yacanto offers several distinct reasons to visit: a guided walking tour around the square, trails to waterfalls and rivers, stargazing, and the route to Cerro Champaquí. If you’re looking for a hotel in Villa Yacanto, the destinations you want to explore during your stay can be a useful starting point for planning your trip.

Trails and Walking Destinations

Yacanteando is a guided walking tour around the square that brings together the identity, culture and landscapes of Villa Yacanto. Sendero de la Hilacha is a trail of about 30 minutes to Cascada de los Helechos. At San Miguel de los RĂos, a trail about 980 meters long leads from the ford to the confluence of the Tabaquillo and San Miguel rivers. The trails therefore differ in their stated destinations: one leads to a waterfall, the other to the confluence of the two rivers.

Getting There and Cerro ChampaquĂ

From Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, Provincial Route No. 228 leads to Villa Yacanto. Villa Yacanto is the only vehicle access point to Cerro ChampaquĂ. From there, drive about 42 km to Cerro Los Linderos; then a hike of about 1 km takes around 40 minutes to reach the summit. The figures refer to two separate sections: the distance describes the drive to Cerro Los Linderos, while the time refers to the subsequent walk.

Located in the Calamuchita Department, Cerro ChampaquĂ lies on the border between the Calamuchita and San Javier departments. At 2,790 meters, it is the highest point in CĂłrdoba Province. This regional context complements the specific route from Villa Yacanto without changing the distance and trail details.

Riverside Spots and Thermal Pools

Nearby places include San Miguel de los Ríos, 9 km from Villa Yacanto’s main square. The nearby hamlet of El Durazno is also part of Villa Yacanto and lies 8 km from the main tourist office; it has a pedestrian suspension bridge and river beaches. The distances are measured from different points: for San Miguel, the reference point is the main square; for El Durazno, it is the main tourist office.

Termas del Sol is also part of the area around Villa Yacanto, a few kilometers from the center. In the nearby hamlet of El Durazno, there are more than 20 artificially heated, terraced pools that can be used year-round. Check current access before visiting.

Stargazing, Lavender and the Patron Saint’s Festival

Astrotourism in Villa Yacanto involves observing stars, planets and constellations through professional telescopes. This adds another activity with a clear thematic focus to the trails along rivers and in the mountains.

Along Sendero de la Lavanda, four local businesses open their doors to visitors. Activities on offer include harvesting, distillation, workshops and tastings. These experiences connect the trail with insights into the various stages of working with lavender.

The patron saint’s festival in Villa Yacanto features cultural, religious and recreational activities. These include performances by well-known singers, markets run by local vendors, food and drink, and gathering spaces for the whole family. In this way, local attractions range from the guided tour and nature trails to stargazing, lavender activities and the festival program.
