If you’re looking for a hotel in La Cumbre, exploring the town’s different sides is a good way to plan your trip. River scenery, crafts, views and culture reveal different facets of the town. There are also excursions and attractions with a range of themes, from the Río San Jerónimo and the Camino de los Artesanos to historic houses and museums.

River scenery and waterside spots

The Río San Jerónimo runs through La Cumbre. Its wooded areas offer opportunities for outdoor meals. The Balneario El Chorrito offers a different waterside landscape: it has two large pools built in the natural riverbed, as well as a mineral water spring. Together, the river and pools represent different sides of La Cumbre’s landscape—wooded riverbanks on the one hand, pools and a spring on the other.

Crafts and excursions

The Camino de los Artesanos connects La Cumbre with Villa Giardino. The nine-kilometer route follows an unpaved road and can only be traveled by car or bicycle. Along the Camino, artisan workshops and organic farms display handmade goods. These include ceramics, woodwork, basketry, costume jewelry, metalwork, woolwork, weaving and semiprecious stonework. Sweets, cured meats, liqueurs and homemade preserves are also available. The route thus connects two towns through a diverse selection of artisan and culinary products.

Another excursion takes you to Cristo Redentor. The ascent covers a well-marked, 600-meter-long climb; from there, panoramic views extend over La Cumbre and the western part of the Sierras Chicas. Horseback riding in La Cumbre can also include routes along the banks of the RĂo Pinto. The views and riverbanks offer different landscape highlights: one excursion looks out over the area from above, while the other follows the RĂo Pinto.

Historic houses and museums

The Casa Museo Manuel Mujica Lainez is located in the Cruz Chica neighborhood, about three kilometers from the center of La Cumbre. The property includes a Spanish-style façade and gardens. Since July 1987, the house has been presented to visitors as it looked during the writer’s lifetime. The display preserves a particular historical view of the house and its furnishings.

The townscape also bears traces of the past: the buildings on what is now Avenida Caraffa, between Rivadavia and Belgrano, retain façades that are more than a century old. The Museo de Historia y Patrimonio de La Cumbre displays historic photographs and the town’s first movie projector, which was powered by coal. Together, the façades, photographs and technical exhibit offer different insights into the town’s history.

La Cumbre in the Punilla Department

The wider destination of Departamento Punilla has other landscape landmarks. At 1,979 meters, Cerro Uritorco is the highest point in northern Punilla. The Quebrada del Condorito is V-shaped, 800 meters high and 1,500 meters wide at its broadest point. Andean condors can be observed from its upper edges; the national park is located partly in Departamento Punilla.

Reservoirs are also part of this regional setting: Punilla has five major reservoirs where visitors can fish. Sailing and motorized water sports are also possible. These activities are in Departamento Punilla and complement the information about La Cumbre with regional landscape and leisure options.
