Discover Guaymallén: Heritage and Wine
Accommodation in Guaymallén
Guaymallén combines historic sites with wine, local gastronomy and the green belt. If you’re planning a hotel stay here, you can focus on culture, tastings or local produce. Historic sites and culinary themes offer different starting points for planning your trip.
Heritage and History
In the founding area of Guaymallén is Casa Museo Molina, a landmark in the history of the municipality. Espacio Cultural Julio Le Parc is next to the old Guaymallén railway station. It was the starting point for the 2026 edition of a bicycle tour of the department’s cultural heritage. El Retortuño is a restaurant in Guaymallén serving traditional cuisine. It has been designated by the province as being of cultural and tourist interest and by the Department of Guaymallén as being of heritage interest.
Casa AMA is an old house in Capilla del Rosario that serves as an event venue and contains a large mural honoring San Martín. Museo Atelier de Rosas, Parroquia Sagrada Familia and Plaza de las Artes y Flores are also historic sites to visit in Guaymallén. Another historic episode links the area to the National Grape Harvest Festival: in 2024, the religious Ceremony of the Blessing of the Fruit (Bendición de los Frutos) was held at Predio de la Virgen, opening the festival’s central events calendar.
In the wider destination of Mendoza, the National Grape Harvest Festival takes place every year. From January to March, each of the province’s 18 departments holds its own harvest festival. The Central Event is staged at Teatro Griego Frank Romero Day, with more than 1,000 performers on stage. This annual festival context complements the specific link to the 2024 ceremony in Guaymallén.
Wine and Local Gastronomy
Guaymallén has more than 15 sparkling wine producers, which together produce 10 million bottles of sparkling wine each year. Wine tourism in Guaymallén includes several wineries open to visitors. There, you can observe the production process and take part in tastings; individual wineries’ availability may vary.
The municipal tasting series “De la bodega a tu restó” (From the Winery to Your Restaurant) pairs wine with local gastronomy. The focus varies depending on your plans: the wineries center on production and tasting, while the series brings wine and gastronomy together.
Local Produce and the Green Belt
The municipal bus tour visited two different stops: a sweet potato producer in the district of Colonia Molina and Bodega SMS in Los Corralitos. At Bodega SMS, the program included wine and sparkling wine tastings, as well as a tasting of Kýros chili-based products. The stops had different focuses: a visit to a producer at one, and tastings of drinks and products at the other.
Guaymallén’s tourist offering also invites you to explore the green belt. This adds a scenic dimension to the cultural and culinary themes when planning your stay.
