Salto De Las Rosas: Kartodrom, Costanera and Fiesta
Accommodation in Salto De Las Rosas
Salto de las Rosas brings together distinct points of interest for a stay: the “Sofía Barrera” karting track, the traditions surrounding the Día de la Bandera, and the Costanera along the Río Atuel. When deciding where to stay, it is worth considering these themes separately: the karting track links a precise location with the memory of Sofía Barrera, while events and riverside scenery offer different focal points.
Getting your bearings around the karting track
The karting track is located at Kilometer 497 of Ruta Nacional 143, at the intersection of Pasaje José Quispe and Calle La Dorada. This makes it possible to pinpoint the location by an intersection and two specific street names. The “Sofía Barrera” karting track was inaugurated in Salto de las Rosas and connects the site with the namesake’s motorsport history.
The grounds include a memorial site with commemorative plaques. An account of the inauguration on June 24, 2024, also described the pink kart, number 53, as an exhibit on the grounds. Sofía Barrera used this kart in her competitions. Together, the memorial site, plaques, and kart connect the memory of a person with a specific item from her competition history.
Fiesta and celebration traditions
The Fiesta Nacional del Caballo takes place every year. Its 26th edition was held at the El Mangrullo event grounds in Salto de las Rosas. If you want to plan your trip around an edition of the festival, check the announced event dates before booking: the confirmed venue and recurring Fiesta do not establish any future dates.
A two-day program was announced for February 2025 for the 25th edition of the Festival del Caballo in Salto de las Rosas. It was set to include equestrian demonstrations, a horseback ride or equestrian procession, and live music. The announcement referred to a planned program for that edition. Together with the recurring Fiesta, it shows that equestrian events are part of the local events calendar, but does not establish a date for your trip.
Salto de las Rosas’s main square is also a place of remembrance: it is home to a monument to General Manuel Belgrano. A celebration of the Día de la Bandera and in honor of Belgrano is traditionally held there on June 20. The established date and the monument give the square a different role from the karting track: the focus here is on national remembrance and an annual celebration.
Costanera along the Río Atuel
The Costanera of Salto de las Rosas sits along the Río Atuel, in a landscape that includes the Las Malvinas dunes. The four-hectare Costanera grounds are near the urban area of Salto de las Rosas, on the boundary between Cañada Seca and Las Malvinas. The grounds have quinchos and barbecue grills. The riverbank, dune landscape, and these facilities give the Costanera its own character alongside the town’s memorial and event themes.
To get there, take Calle Las Areninas from Ruta Nacional 143; the grounds are then about 800 meters away. If you want to include the Costanera in your stay, you can use this access information as a separate point of reference alongside the karting track’s location.
