At the Hito Jesuítico in Puerto Manzano, Jesuits built a church in 1671 that stood there until 1717. The original house in Puerto Manzano was built by Cristian Book, who settled the area from 1907 onward; it is still standing and is considered a striking example of vernacular architecture. These two sites offer different historical points of reference: the Jesuit church in the 17th and early 18th centuries, and Book’s settlement from 1907 onward.
Landmark, scenery and construction
The “Letras Corporeas” tourist landmark is installed in Puerto Manzano. It stands in a natural setting that frames a picturesque view of Villa La Angostura. Muelle Puerto Manzano offers a different point of interest: wood from the surrounding area was used to build it. A scenic viewpoint and a specifically named building material thus stand alongside one another as distinct local details.
