Accommodation in Río Colorado
Río Colorado lies on the south bank of the river that gives the city its name, at kilometer 857 of National Route 22. If you’re looking for a hotel in Río Colorado, you can base your choice on what interests you locally: history, outdoor activities, and leisure options offer different starting points for planning your stay.
Historic sites and their stories
The Estación del Ferrocarril opened to public transport in September 1897. It served as a hub for transporting goods and passengers, especially to the markets of Bahía Blanca and Buenos Aires. The Antiguo Puente Carretero was inaugurated on May 25, 1909, and is considered part of the historical heritage of the Río Colorado community.
Another story is told by the Capilla del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. It was the town’s first chapel, originally built in 1908. It did not survive the 1915 flood; the chapel was rebuilt in 1936. Together, these places show different chapters in the town’s history: railway transport, a bridge recognized as heritage, and the rebuilding of a chapel.
Fiesta del Colorado: dated editions
The fourth Fiesta del Colorado took place in Río Colorado from March 28 to 30, 2025. As a cultural, artistic, and gastronomic event, it attracted residents, visitors, and tourists. Food options included food trucks and stalls, run by local social, cultural, sports, and religious institutions, as well as neighborhood associations.
The Fiesta del Colorado also took place in 2026: on Friday, March 27; Saturday, March 28; and Sunday, March 29, at the municipal athletics grounds. Admission was free for the entire community. These dates refer to the respective past editions.
Nature and outdoor activities
Río Colorado’s natural attractions include walks along the Bardas, which offer access to panoramic views, and bike rides on rural roads. If you plan these activities, check routes and access conditions before your trip; for bike rides, you should also confirm availability again.
At Río Colorado’s balnearios, local operators offer nautical excursions by day and at night. Check availability with the operators before your trip. The Aeroclub Río Colorado offers sightseeing flights of about 25 to 45 minutes, with views of the Río Colorado. The approximate duration gives you a practical time estimate if you want to include this activity in your stay plans.
Golf and regional cuisine
The Golf Club Río Colorado has a nine-hole course at kilometer 860 of Route 22. The club also promotes the opportunity to play golf year-round. If golf is important to your stay, check current playing opportunities in advance.
For regional cuisine, Trina Bodega & Viñedos’ restaurant, Mangia Orecchio, offers another option to consider when planning. This lets you choose the focus of your stay: historic sites, outdoor trails and excursions, golf, or regional cuisine.
