Reconquista brings together nature and river themes with urban cultural heritage. These different focal points can help guide your choice of hotel: Are you particularly interested in Jaaukanigás, the Río Paraná or the city’s history? Birdwatching and photo safaris, a route along the San Jerónimo, and the museum and architectural heritage each offer a distinct focus. You can tailor your stay to whichever of these aspects of Reconquista matters most for your trip.

Nature in Jaaukanigás

Reconquista lies within the Jaaukanigás Ramsar Site, considered one of the most significant natural attractions in the province of Santa Fe. Ecotourism in Reconquista includes birdwatching and photo safaris in one of the country’s largest Ramsar Sites. Two scales are therefore relevant: the importance of Jaaukanigás in Santa Fe and the size of the Ramsar Site in the national context.

Near the destination, on Isla La Fuente opposite the port of Reconquista, is the Complejo Turístico Gente del Agua. It has two kilometers of boardwalks and nature trails, four viewpoints, and rest areas for tourism and educational purposes.

Río Paraná, sport fishing and river route

Reconquista is considered one of the most representative cities for sport fishing because of its proximity to the Río Paraná and the diversity of fish species in the region. One specific water route is the Paseo náutico por el San Jerónimo. It starts at the Complejo Turístico Gente del Agua, heads upstream along the south coast to Boquerón, then returns along the north coast, passing the industrial, commercial and sports port of Reconquista. This gives you two distinct water-related focuses to choose from: sport fishing as a travel theme and a boat trip with a named route along the San Jerónimo.

Museum, architecture and astronomy

The Museo Histórico de la Ciudad de Reconquista preserves and promotes the city’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Its audience includes primary and secondary school pupils and university students, as well as tourists and general visitors. Since 1999, the Museo Histórico de Reconquista has been located on the grounds of the former General Belgrano railway station. The museum’s mission is thus connected with a former railway site in the city’s history.

The Iglesia Catedral at San Martín 650 is classified in Category A, denoting exceptional historical value. Another area of interest is astronomy: the Observatorio Astronómico Municipal Reconquista has telescopes and a wide range of optical equipment for exploring the cosmos.

Regional nature in General Obligado

Within the wider destination of General Obligado, the Reserva Natural Municipal Jardín Florido is located in Florencia. It protects 23 hectares of riparian and Chaco forests within the Jaaukanigás Ramsar Site. Unlike the activities in Reconquista, this reserve focuses on the protected area and its two types of forest.
